the real concern of this article is the franchise consultancy firms cannot make money from franchisor's that didnt approach them for consultancy. can you imagine, they are charging maximum of 40% fee for every franchise...so the bigger the franchise amount , the better for them... but in fairness to the article, there are really scams being done by others. example, we have a friend who franchised a burger business for over 200k last year, after 1 month of operation, the franchisor left him already with no support at all. he's on his own.. and his buy 1 take 1 burger business gave him a monthly net income of only 500 pesos. 3 months of operation he closed his business.
beware of franchising that approves your location without doing an evaluation. always ask them, what support are they gonna provide you once you get a franchise from them. IF THEY ARE NOT GONNA PROVIDE YOU AND YOUR STAFF A MARKETING TRAINING THEN PROBABLY YOU HAVE TO THINK TWICE. Because food handling preparation isnt enough.. THEY HAVE TO TRAIN YOU ALSO CUSTOMER SERVICE AND BASIC MARKETING at least.
