A dog without rabies vaccination has bitten a person. The dog is then observed and quarantined for 10 to 15 days. After 10 to 15 day period is over, the dog does not exhibit symptoms of rabies, is it safe to say that the person is not infected with rabies?

The person bitten should consult the doctor.Rabies is not the only potential problem from a dog bite. Tetanus is also a concern. OK back to the query...The incubation period for rabies among dogs is somewhere between 10-15 days. Be aware that one may miss some symptoms due to inadequate training or info. If the dog has no behavioral changes and/or 'wala ga luya o way gana mo kaun'. It is less probable that the dog has rabies. The most definitive option requires sacrificing the dog and i guess that is out of the question. The best option is to seek the help of a doctor and for questions more specific for the dog only, a vet.

Yes, a doctor was consulted. Doctor's advise was to observe the dog.

If it's just a house dog, meaning it's not roaming in streets or mingling with other dogs, then it is unlikely for that dog to have rabies even if it wasn't vaccinated in the first place.

Like what aquafire said, ayawg compyansa. Ipa-check up nlang to sya. Apply necessary treatment if positive siya for rabies infection.

Good nga na pakita na sa doctor. A bite may be a number of puncture wounds. SO i think if the doctor saw it needed the patient got anti tetabus shots already.(unless covered pa sya sa iyang vaccination.)

yes, tetanus and antibiotics have been administered.. kulang nalang ang anti-rabies shots.. that's why i'm worried and asking the quesion above. if only the costs weren't that high, drecho na unta (20k - 30k daw)

Inyo ang iro? uya ma obserbahan closely? I guess the doctor took that in to consideration already. Na-a man gud nay mga established protocols nga i follow depende sa mga factors involved.

try adto sa City Hospital or sa Minglanilla District Hospital, mas barato ilang anti-rabies shots.
