my girl friend is a mormon. nindot ni cya na religion pud ky disciplined kaayo and like Islam, conservative.
i dunno why a lot of people finds it strange if ang tao buutan and straight ang life. dli ni cla mu inom, sigarilyo and if possible(kun mapugngan), they dont engage in pre marital *** like most christians do. ladies value themselves more. lisud pud ipangita ug match ky taas sila ug standard.
oi nindot diay ning mga babae nga mormons noh kay dili mga igat.. ^_^

pero as usual, ang mga mimbir nga sigeg sinamok sa kabalayan kay considered nabrainwashed.

right , before we dont drink/smoke. pero im not into relgion bfore dats y i do smoke n drink. but patago. but actually - y not mag paka totoo - when i dun rely blieve in god. right not premarital ###. its considered fornication. no eating of dugo2, tea. coffee. aand late sleeping is not allowed - a word of wisdom to take care of ones' body. law of chastitiy - ang ga babae mag sayal jud ug taas. unlike in catholic , mag spaghetti - strictly not allowed.

multiple marriage is just a humor. dili na tinuod. but its happen on the history of mormon when a group tumiwalag cla and form their own and practice polygami.

but ur a muslim right pigrah, just same standards as they have. but how about the polygamy, actually for me i support this cause as long as u can provide, u are already giving life. but im not sure how women view it.

they may be brainwashed - but lets not judge them. i do pitty them sometimes. but if u look at d world today. for some people they can considered angels.

there are actually few members who are otherwise known as inactive or miscommunicated. and to think just because they bring the name mormon before , this will generalize the whole mormon.

this just a little part of the whole - which should not be mistakenly stereotyped.

    ehem...

I can answer your questions as much as I can because I happen to be a Mormon. If in case I can't answer your questions then the best thing for you to do is to contact any of our missionaries (kanang makita ninyo nga maglakaw2 tag-duha wearing name tags - Americans or Pinoys doesn't matter).

    1. To start with, Mormon is not the actual name of our Church. The name of the church is 'The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints'. The word Mormon is actually a name of one of the ancient prophets who lived in America a long long time ago (ancient America). People use Mormon to nickname us because as you can see the name of the church is quiet long. The members of the church are also designated as LDS (Latter-Day Saints). We don't really mind being called Mormons. It's okay.

    2. For the TS, the basketball courts you see in our chapels are there for activities. Anyone can play there, members or non-members of the church as long as no gambling is done and of course they won't damage anything. Why we have basketball courts? Because we believe sports can save your soul - joke! hehehe... Seriously, the church supports and encourages sports specially to the youth to promote healthier lifestyles and to keep away from unpleasant activies - drugs for example. They're also there to promote fellowship among members and non-members.

    3. Missionaries. They go by companionship (a pair of two). In the church when a male member reaches the age of 19 he is encouraged to go on his mission for 2 years. For women the minimum age is 21. In those 2 years their primary activity is to preach the gospel - that:
    1. There is a God and that He loves us.
    2. Jesus Christ is His son and our savior. He is the only way for us to gain salvation.
    3. That there has been a great apostasy (nawala ang simbahan sa Ginoo sa kalibutan after Jesus Christ's death). But fortunately through Joseph Smith the church has been restored along with the priesthood authority and keys to the kingdom of God.
    4. Joseph Smith is a prophet of God.
    5. An ancient record was recovered and translated by the prophet Joseph Smith that bore record of the inhabitants of the ancient America. This record is now called the Book of Mormon.
    6. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints bear the authority from God to perform the necessary ordinances for the salvation of man.

I served in Philippines Davao Mission year 2000-2002. And it was the best 2 years of my life. And I have been determined to make my life after my mission worthwhile despite the trials and obstacles that I have experienced and will experience.

Missionaries won't and will never force you because the church will never force anyone. The gospel of Jesus Christ teaches 'free agency' or the freedom to choose. That is the most important gift we have from God. The missionaries will only invite you and it's up to you if you will accept the invitation or not.

    4. Marriage in the temple. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints have temples throughout the world. The Philippines Manila temple is in White Plains Quezon city. The church regards its temples as a house of the Lord. Temples are there also to hold higher ordinances such as eternal marriage, family sealing, baptism for the dead, and endowment. Marriage in the temple is a higher ordinance because it is eternal. Whoever you marry in the temple will be your companion forever even after this life. Death cannot part those who have been married in the temple. About sa question sa TS, only those who are endowed and are worthy to enter the temple can witness a temple wedding. Dili sa ingon nga ang gi-minyo lang ug ang pari ang naa sa wedding. hehe... paeta sad intawn Kung naay family members and friends and bride and groom nga endowed and worthy to enter the temple then they can attend the marriage ordinance and be witnesses.

    5. A living prophet. The church believes that God will not do anything except He reveals His secrets unto His prophets. God has always worked through prophets since the Old and New testament. Joseph Smith was called as His prophet. Now we have a living prophet by the name of Thomas S. Monsoon. He presides over the church and receives revelation from God for the church and for the whole mankind.

    ----

If you're wondering what the Mormon church stand for, I can say that we basically stand that Jesus Christ is the promised Messiah of the Old Testament. He died and was resurrected. There was apostasy after his death and now the church has been restored through the prophet Joseph Smith. And that the necessary priesthood and keys to the Kingdom of God has also been restored. We have a living prophet by the name of Thomas S. Monsoon.

    Ok.. fire up your questions!
