I refer to the roots... yes that blues rock or the OLD school rock ala Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Cream, Frank Zappa,Led Zeppelin, The Doors,Juan dela Cruz (the Old School Rock stuff before experimental rock came). I mean I'm a guitarist, a novice i say. I play progressive, neoclassical, jazz etc.. Any type of songs basta hindi novelty and not the SOOOO Baduy type. Yet playing with even the deepest type of rock music, I cannot set aside the Old School Rock in which in layman's term, generally it's called Rock & Roll. (pardon me if I have mistaken the meaning of Rock And Roll)

G3 plays Blues. Jimi Hendrix is one of Joe Satriani's influence, Frank Zappa is on Steve Vai, Stevie Ray Vaughan on Eric Johnson The guys played Red House. And for the Denver G3, Malmsteen played Red House Again, Yngwie is a proven Neoclassical Shredder, He is one of the best guitarist today but he paid tribute to the old school rock and he did it very well . The Trio played Hendrix's classics such as Little wing and Voodoo Child(Slight Return).

I'm not saying that a band needs a guitar virtouso in order to have a fine band, what I'm trying to stress here is that musicians...must have at least has the knowledge of Rock's forefathers and can play some of their songs.

I'm not forcing everybody here to agree. I'm only asking if all the musicians here still has any passion in playing OLD SCHOOL ROCK!

And to rephrase the title "IS OLD SCHOOL ROCK ALREADY DEAD?" I think this is no longer a cliche.

I basically started playing guitar with just 3 chords playing old school punk and traditional country and folk

Rock N' Roll will never die!

I like to think that rock is not dying, but face it mga bro... can you still here rock - particularly hard rock - on radios now? What I hear are novelty songs. Too commercialized music. Ang uban pa-cute, pa-tsoy-tsoy. Even with metal nowadays, it's not the same as before. Now metal has the alternative sound to have a wider range of audience and be more radio-friendly.

We can at least bring back Led Zeppelin to popularity here in Cebu. Their music was pure and original.

    Just my thoughts.

this is why i dont categorize the music i listen to kay magkagubot man gud.

for me, Rock n Roll is not died...

nope it aint.. just forget about what youve seen on MTV these days coz its pure crap..

with the exception of a few artists. like coldplay, Muse ..etc...

there are only a few mainstream bands today that are making real music......
