up for lapunti n d mother technique..............

Hi I would like to share my experience and also ask for a good idea.
I am a martial artist that mainly practice karate and doce pares, although I haven't been into street fights, and I am not planning to get into one, nag sige pa gihapon ko ug practice to learn good enough skills to defend myself in case ug "parigla" or any other situations I can't get out of.
Nahitabo I have a friend who was practicing brazillian jiu jutsu and he convinced me to practice the art not only because it is now very popular pero grabe sad kuno ka epektibo. His name is Allan Mateo if you know him, he practices Brazillian Jiu Jutsu in pajac lapu2x.
Last week, Nag bisikleta siya diha sa may reclamation area near sm city cebu. Na shock lang ko kay gi pareglahan kuno siya then na dunggaban. Na unsa pag ka unsaa nga maayo man kaayo to siya ug martial arts. My friends told me that dili kuno practical iyang style sa paregla nga style because, tackling and take down is good for 1 on 1 fights not for multiple opponents. So scenario nila nga samtang nag tackle siya ug usa ka tawo, gi dungab kini siya sa likod sa uban niining kauban...
So my question is, is this true about brazilian martial arts? I am still thinking about practicing the art pero for 1k per month, I think I will invest into much more interesting and much more practical techniques out there. Naa basad tay filipino martial arts that can do this, I mean I am satisfied with the techniques of dose pares and it goes well with the explosive power of karate, but Im sure there are still a lot more techniques I have to know.
By the way I know aikido is the first suggestion that will be given but I tell you I tried practicing aikido, it is just not for me, I think it is because aikido is a direct opposite of the principles of karate which I have been practicing since I was young.
Hope you can help me, please feel free to offer your suggestions. thanks.

Thanks, by the way, any news on when you might join our training again?
BJJ is a lot of groundfighting, but many other styles has groundfighting to....
BJJ is just known for nearly only focusing on that area.....
Yes, BJJ has worked very well in sports tournaments because its good in one-on-one....
But on the street, not so good....
When you train BJJ you learn to take the fight to the ground and if there is more then one opponent thats not a good idea or if you are standing in broken glass from beer bottles, then you might get cut....
I would rather be standing in a street fight, then i always have the option to run if he has a weapon or his friends are coming.....
If a person was taken to the ground (by a takedown), then i teach my students to get up as fast as possible and always fight dirty, poke in the eyes, bite, use elbows and so on.....
Thats street fighting.....
PS. You can read my background here: About Me | www.fma-arnis.dk and i teach for free by the way....

I dont think MMA is what he is looking for if he says streetwise, just look at what did happen to Tito Ortiz when he was in a real fight....
MMA is also with rules and even that is has more ranges then BJJ, it still also teaches to go to the ground....
I think when somebody says streetwise, they like something without rules or bad habits like going to the ground and kicking high.....
I think he should look for some styles like Bujinkan (Ninjutsu), FMA/Eskrima, Krav Maga or suchs....
PS. I have tried both Sports Styles and Streetwise Martial Arts in my past, so i know what the difference is....
