We are talking about tourism here right? It means, we will sell our country as a tourist destination...what's the problem with that? Tourism is a multi-billion dollar industry...is it bad to get a share of the pie? I wonder what the big fuss is all about...

they can already get what they want from us *without* buying us. that and be spared from the liabilities of holding on to a colony? cheap labor, cheap raw materials, dumping ground for excess products... you name it.
review your Constantino history, ladies and gentlepeople. we were granted independence in 1946 precisely because holding on to colonies at that time (until present) is a taxing work. it's liabilities outweigh its advantages. besides it looks good to the international community. but the ties that bind are there. ever heard of the grand debate on parity rights, or how former president Garcia lost US support because of his 'Filipino-first policy'?
