Recognized the face but not the person

have you experience seeing someone whose face is familiar to you but you don't actually remember who she/he is and the circumstance of how you came to know each other?

i find it weird because this happened to me recently, i met a lady once and she smiled at me and so i smiled back and i have no idea who she was but i do recognize her face and none about the rest of her

There are lots of instances that I have experienced this. the latest one was me and my bf went to the dentist and there was this t-bo who said HUY i said.. HeLLo then lakaw galore. My bf asked me, KINSA TO? I said erm.. i have no idea.
