    kinsa ga-keep ug sketchbook diri? i think keeping one is the best way to keep your skills sharp or rather improve on them. while wala kaayo koy time nga mohimo ug kumpleto nga comics story, pero i see to it nga mag-drawing drawing ko almost everyday. practice lang ba. bisan unsa nga makit-an. later on, pwede sad magamit kanang mga small sketches as part of a bigger story.

    here's what i came up with so far... http://www.renriquez.com/wordpress/?cat=7

    a more organized one here in flickr... http://www.flickr.com/photos/renriquez/

    @cmontoya, as for al rio's backgrounds, you can use photo references where you can set up your scenes. modify-modify na lang as seen fit. another way would be to practice drawing nature(like you mentioned in your previous posts) and everything else that you see around you.

    ayo-ayo!

    @Santini: I know what you mean I just find his women pretty. I have to refer to Serpieri for realism. I can not draw like Al Rio or Serpieri yet. As the
    late FPJ said in one of his movies, "Marami pa ako bigas kakainin" or something to that effect

    @vangogh: I keep a sketchbook. But not like yours. Yours is like a sketchbook + diary. Cool! You bring it with you everyday. I just leave at home.

    Yes, I am practicing drawing little pieces of nature (not a complete scene pa). I just want to have a drawing session with seasoned artists because they can teach us noobs a thing or two. We, the ones who met last Sunday, agreed that self-studies + group studies is a good way to accelerate the learning process.

    wow, we can ask vangogh to teach us, his works looks like they're done by a professional!

    @cmontoya, I think you can download some volumes of the "How to Draw Manga" series off bitorrent. I think I have one or two.. I just forgot where I placed them.

    @vemp

    sshhh.. the mods might shut us down. :P hehehehe

    @cmontoya.

    I have a hard copy of How to Draw Manga Compiling Application and Practice vol 3. wanna buy?? :P how much is the brand new.. pero if you just want to look at the trees section.. ill lend it to you next time. I need to pry it off my nephew's hand though...he's starting to watch animes.. yugi-oh... yucks.. :P

    on Al Rio, I havn't been exposed much to his works.. but he does a decent jim lee, joe mad, scott campbell or whatever is the "in" thing in comics. talk about flexibility.. but one thing's for sure.. he draws 100x better than me.

    Hmm.. I'll see which "How to draw" books I can bring the next time we meet.

    Er...I think I went overboard with my first sketch of Delirium. Is it okay if I added a background? And are we allowed to color her?

    @Weebong
    Oi!! You posted something! Woot!!
    I think you've got a point..Aside from having a teacher, that is, if we really can't find one, we can just have drawing/sharing sessions. That's a pretty good idea. Looking forward to your new sketch of Delirium

    @vangogh
    Woah...you are amazing. It'd be great if you joined the upcoming meetings.

    @dAmNseL jEnY
    Make sure you post your "homework" I'd love to see how you defy THE Neil Gaiman. *chuckles*

    @zerk
    Hmm...I still prefer Despair over Delirium. :P

    ...I don't get to see lots of people drawing obese women..and men..or just plain obese people for that matter....and the fact that she's nude..Hmm......We could use Despair for our future homework on nude drawings!!!*grins* *bops her own head*

    I'll try I've been trying to defy Delirium but in the end, Delirium defies me

    Delirium was my first attempt to draw non-anime-ish character. Hehe. It's a good challenge after the six year slumber of my fingers.

    @all
    Oh, I'm just curious. What do you do if your hands are shivering while making sketches? My hand shivers a lot. I can't seem to draw because of this "hand tremors".

    @damnsel jeny, my brother whose also an artist had the same problem when he first started drawing. I think he just kept practicing and practicing until he got full control of his drawing hand. Relaxing helps i think and avoiding caffeinated drinks The right practice again and again, makes perfect.
