It is quite difficult to find male res nowadays. In my breeding group, gamay ra kaau ang percentage sa males as compared to females. males are distinguished by their wolverine claws (tag-as) and sometimes they tend to fall into the RES dark phase (2 of my RES males are dark phase), Males also tend to be smaller as only females reach a carapce length of 1 ft. plus. Dont rely on the tail length for sliders...they can be decieving and so with the male plastron notch. I wouldnt recommend these indicators...tooo tricky.

I'm glad to find this thread. I got 2 adult RES - 8" carapace and all female. Maluoy ko magtan-aw nila especially when they do the courtship rituals and the "copulation move" wala jud ko laki nga RES. My neighbor got 2 RES too pero puro females pud.

.. i had read this info from the net maybe it could be useful to you guys.. it is advised if you have an adult male and female u should separate them because males usually try to harass the females(biting,scratching)

Confirmed na akong RES nga si Dimitris is a male... The claws are super long na and the vent kung ako kuhaon sa tubig naa mogawas nga organ...
