1. ms.charm, it has been that way since time immemorial. that's why it's called a Brotherhood.
2. Jacques De Molay was the last Grand Master of the Knights Templar. there's an organization sponsored by the Masons and is named after this Grand Master Templar. it's called the International Order of DeMolay.
3. the Square and Compass are tools of the stonemasons during ancient times. it has been used symbolically by the speculative Masons as the universal logo of the Free and Accepted Masons.
4. both are Orders of Brotherhood.
