Elow! I guess the popularity of Da Vinci Code (as well as that of Angels and Demons... which I prefer over Da Vinci) was because of its many religious undertones, to put it rather superficially. Actually, Dan Brown made a direct attack on the Catholic Church and I guess the entire Christian religion in general. But that's part of the fun. I'm quite sure some historical "facts" he cited in Da Vinci Code were rather factual. And by factual, i mean he has some documents to bolster his claims: ancient, antiquated and supposedly reliable sources. Personally though, I don't suppose we have to believe them all.Originally Posted by Gwynhuever

To be fair, Dan Brown does his craft superbly, although we're in no obligation to buy whatever he's putting out in his books. As for me, I am not a man of strong faith.... or shall I say... I'm not as devout as some of us are... but the book did nothing to weaken my faith. I just took it as it was... i took it as nothing more that a beautifully done, shrewd and a very intriguing story. And it was great entertainment for me. I finished Angels and Demons and Da Vinci code in succession in four days in December 2005.
Both books are an awesome read! Highly recommended.
