Microsoft to provide free anti-virus software

I'm in New Zealand and I was able to download it earlier with that link I provided. Obviously Microsoft just changed recently the product's official site.

The program itself is very small and light. It installed in less than a minute even on my old Celeron based laptop.

How good it is as a virus/malware protector though? Well I guess we'll just have to wait for those virus bulletin tests. If you remember back when Microsoft was doing Live OneCare, it failed miserably in detecting viruses on it's first test. It got better though eventually until they decided to dump the product and replace it with this free one.
