well i think it all boils down to marekting strategy, i mean there's no hollywood actress of japanese descent who is very popular at the moment who could play the role well enough. i was thinking that they should've chosen that girl who played gogo in kill bill or maybe utada hikaru but yeah, hollywood is hollywood. they don't care if the actors are not japanese as long as they look asian.
Yah... they can't distinguish between japanese and chinese.
And the fact... that the japanese and chinese look really different from each other.

I really like the japanese girl who played the child Sayuri. She's going to be more popular someday.

oops that was supposed to be marketing, not marekting. i'm so unforgiving at times when it comes to spelling, even to myself.

anyway, i hope to see this movie next week.

pede cguro powerful kc each kimono that they wear represents kung ano lvl(di po OL game ) na nila!

ung more complicated na pag-ayos ng kimono, colors tapos ung style depicts ung more experience geishas.

diba before they become geisha's they have to study a lot from a school or a mentor and they have specific kimonos for students, sa mo"gradute" and become full-pledged geisha's and ung mga kimonos din na bigay ng kanilang "sponsors"(sowee, nakalimutan ko ung term)

the kimonos depict the power/experience/level that each geisha has!

pero feel ko parin wrong choice of word for the statement na pinost ko previously.

i just watched it awhile ago. okay lang. i think that aspect in the book where we wonder who Sayuri was going to end up with is lost in the movie. the fact that the actor who played Nobu had two arms instead of just one... well dako na kaayo to'g kuha. Nobu's character is vital in the story. aside from the friendship between Nobu and the chairman, Nobu's physical handicap but strength in spirit compared to the chairman's obvious charm was the force that drives the story. and i just did not see that in the movie.

still i liked the actor who played Nobu. okay ra sad si ken watanabe. i liked Sayuri's last line - "...everything i did since that day on the bridge has been to bring myself closer to you."

I just saw the movie and the cinematography was great.. the actors and actresses were good too. I almost fell in love with the chairman. hahah I liked the dance of sayuri.. wohoo.. nice clogs. ANyways, there were some important parts that were not emphasized such why the chairman did not pursue Sayuri.. which was because of Nobu.. Nobu's character i believe was not given much justice.

Over all, i did like the movie, as can be expected not everything in the book will in the movie. I also liked that last line of Sayuri.. so romantic.. heheh !
