if our sun dies, is it possible for humanity to search for habitable planets with a "sun" similar to ours? i mean, in the future ba. i'm not being sci-fi here, but i think it would be a most logical thing to do right? for the survival of our species, then we may have to look at the stars.

That's exactly the reason for putting up institutes like this:

    SFSU Exoplanet Group

    And websites like this:

    Exoplanet Research

Unfortunately, most of the people in this world, are still too busy finding more ethereal solutions to salvation, or waiting for the next model of iPhone or iPod, or waiting for the next episode of "Lost", to really be concerned about the plight of humanity, if the time comes when the earth becomes truly uninhabitable.

pero as what you've said, mr.rodsky, our sun still has so many years to go before it winks out. i think that should give us way much ample time to prepare for that. maybe by that time, the consciousness of the people will have changed already towards space exploration. but i really find it fascinating to explore the idea of colonizing the stars.

mr.rodsky, is nasa or any space organization planning/considering anytime soon to send a manned exploration to the outer parts of our solar system?

kabaw mo noh? Humanity might get annihilated not because of the demise of our Sun but because of how we are treating our planet. If we don't change our environment harmful ways, our Sun's life won't matter. hehehehe

One will have difficulty in reaching the second floor of a building, if one doesn't have stairs.

Right now, NASA is building the stairs, in the form of the "Return to the Moon" program, which will help develop the Orion CEV spacecraft (Project Constellation) into not only a moon-specific capsule, but an interplanetary capsule (the second floor, in my analogy). Meaning, before one goes out further into the solar system, one must first check the performance of the spacecraft on operations/missions to nearer worlds like the Moon and Mars. NASA plans to send manned missions to the moon by 2018, and establish the first permanent lunar bases by 2025. In about 2028-30, the first Manned Mars missions might actually begin from a moon base, because it's easier to lift a spacecraft off the moon than off the earth.

The SUN which is the Dance of SHIVA will always be here for eternity but when it dies, this is just my speculation, then another SUN will appear or if not the universe will solve the problem of itself.

the sun is supposed to live for the next few billion years. however if ever gani naay something mo happen like asteroids or chemical reaction to blow up the sun . there's actually none we can do.
much better kun naaay asteroid kay pede ra anto tirahan ug rocket.
but when the sun turns out to be a supernova then we evaporate /. the nineplanets will vaporize bec its heat will be billions of degrees celcius. bisan motago paka sa mountain adto ka sa mars or whatever technolgy nato. maybe we can build a grandship na motravel sa space man we will know the sun we blow 20years from now mo batsi na ta daan . but outside our solar system we go to the place of no return , not knowing inig boto 20yrs later maabtan pa sa shockwave.
probably we will have the technology to survie in the next mellinium pa. to take advantage of the sun/sttar as an alternative energy source.

but if ever mo hapends na cya. I think i can think of our last survival . an intelligence way much higher from us from a place far far away, nga mka recognize cla na ato sun kabutohon na,. man dako ila pag tan-aw nato na were too good to be gone. ug cla mo warp cla sa earth wiith their mother ship and mo create cla ug a very big forcefield that will cover the whole planet and we will surve the supernova with everything intact except we lost the solar system and the 8planets/ . mo more day puro nlang nights . pero naa japon ang moon. ngit2 na cguro kau ang earth. but
eventually ang mga aliens mag ila2 nato ug . ilahang dalon ang eath sa ilahang galaxy ug i- rotate apil sa ilang sun . kojawa no. ug they will be our neighboor. ug mo supplly cla nato ug free energy ug food and beer nga lami kaau. and we will experience a new world with their other dimention technology we never thought of.

What a very nice movie to make ............... Comming Soon

^magteleport nalang, sir. a way for mass evacuation. siguro by that time (when the sun is dying), a technology to make it possible would have been invented. that is if we haven't killed our planet or our species first
