Dandruff
- To get rid of dandruff, pour vinegar into the hair, massage into the scalp, and leave to dry for a few minutes. Then, wash the hair. Repeat daily until the dandruff disappears, usually within a few days.
Facial & Eye Care
- Uses for Baking Soda: Mix with oatmeal in your blender and use as a facial scrub.
- Uses for Baking Soda: Facial scrub -- Add a little baking soda to your facial cleanser instead of using facial scrubs. The little 'grains' are round and tiny and very gentle.
- Uses for Baking Soda: Use gently as an exfoliating facial scrub.
- Cucumber slices over the eyes will reduce puffiness.
- Elmers Glue - paint on your face, allow it to dry, peel off and see the dead skin and blackheads.
- Paint Elmer's Glue on your face, allow it to dry & peel off dead skin and blackheads.

- You can fight blemishes with baking soda instead of acne creams. Add enough water to the baking soda to make a paste and apply to blemishes at bedtime to dry up pimples fast.
Fingernails
- Pam cooking spray will dry fingernail polish.
- Out of nail polish remover? Head to the garage and grab some brake parts cleaner. It will remove nail polish safely without damaging real or artificial nails.
- Wanting to remove acrylic nails painlessly without paying the salon? Go to the garage, and grab some carburetor cleaner. Spray on nails, let sit. Rinse and repeat. It should only take 2 sprays, and the acrylic melts away.
- Strengthen fingernails. With Jell-O. Mix strawberry flavored Jell-O with water to make a paste, paint on your nails. Makes nails grow longer & stronger & stains your nails red & they smell great all day.
- Pam cooking spray will dry finger nail polish.
Hair Cleaning
- Use Baking Soda if your hair is oily and you don't have time to wash it. Sprinkle a little on your hair, comb it through and do a quick blow-dry and it works perfectly! It is great if you are in a hurry.
- Shiny Hair-use brewed Lipton Tea.
- For shiny hair - rinse with brewed Lipton Tea.
- In your hand, mix hair shampoo with a small amount of baking soda. Shampooing with this mixture easily removes old and heavy hair spray/spirits, etc., residue. Doing this once a week will not only remove all hair spray, styling gels, and other products, it will remove impurities from the water and actually lighten your hair.
Hair Coloring
- Dye your hair with Folgers instant coffee. Add a packet with your regular conditioner & mix well. Apply and let set 1 minute, then rinse clean for brown hair.
- Change blond hair dyed green by chlorine back to its original color. Simply rinse your green hair with Canada Dry Club Soda.
- If your hair turns green from chlorine in swimming pools, just shampoo as usual but add 1/4 cup baking soda to your shampoo.
Hair Conditioning
- Try using hand cream to seal split ends. It works as well as expensive deep conditioning treatments and split end mending products. Use on dry hair only.
- Mayonnaise conditions hair.
- Beer conditions the hair.
- Cool Whip will condition your hair in 15 minutes.
- A nourishing conditioner for dry or damaged hair which can be used for all hair types: Separate the white of an egg from the yolk, whip it to a peak. Add 1 Tbls. water to the yolk and blend until the mixture is creamy. Then mix the white and yolk together. Wet your hair with warm water, remove the excess moisture, and apply the mixture to your scalp with your fingertips. Massage gently until the froth is worked into your scalp, then rinse the hair with cool water. Keep applying the mixture until it is used up and then rinsed until all of the egg is washed away.
- Budweiser beer conditions the hair.
- Condition dry hair - Shampoo, then rinse hair with a mixture of one cup Heinz Apple Cider Vinegar and two cups water. Vinegar adds highlights to brunette hair, restores the acid mantel, and removes soap film and sebum oil.
- Cool whip will condition your hair in 15 minutes.
Makeup
- Baby shampoo removes eye makeup.
Miscellany
- Uses for Baking Soda: Use instead of powder in your shoes to absorb moisture and odors.
- Before climbing into the shower or bath, fill your bathroom sink with hot water. Then place your favorite body lotion in the water. When you get out of your shower/bath, your lotion will be nice and warm...which is great during the winter months!
- If you have bottles of perfume or cologne which you do not care for, don't throw them out. Try putting some in your bath water. The ratio of water to perfume will make for a nice smelling bath!
Odor
- Uses for Baking Soda: It works great to defeat feminine odor problems. Just sprinkle a bit on a panty liner and wear as usual.
- Make a cream deodorant by mixing 2 tablespoons baking soda, 2 tablespoons of petroleum jelly and 2 tablespoons talcum or baby powder. Heat in a double boiler or over very low heat, stirring constantly until it becomes smooth and creamy. Store in a container with tight lid.
- Uses for Baking Soda: Use as deodorant. -- Mix a cup of baking soda and 2 T. of cornstarch (to keep baking soda from clumping) and put it in a plastic container with a short-handled blush brush. Then after your shower you just brush on your deodorant. Since you're still a little moist, it doesn't have a problem sticking.
Oral Care
- Uses for Baking Soda: Toothpaste -- a mildly abrasive tooth cleaner and mouthwash in one.
- Clean dentures - Soak dentures overnight in Heinz White Vinegar, then brush away tartar with a toothbrush.
- After removing your dentures (or other dental appliance), soak in warm water with a drop or two of bleach overnight. Rinse well in the morning before brushing. Not only does it leave your dentures pearly white, but also it kills any fungus, germs and bacteria that can cause bad breath, mouth sores and infections.
Shaving
- Use shaving cream when shaving your legs for a smooth shave. Using soap can dry out your skin.
- When shaving your legs, try using hair conditioner to make it easier. Not only does it work, but it leaves your legs feeling super-smooth!
