-Symantec Security Response: http://www.sarc.com/ is a popular site to check the latest viruses and other threats.

-For free anti-virus/anti-spyware programs... this has been discussed already several times on this forum. Have a search around.

At the end of the day though.. the best anti-virus/anti-spyware is you yourself. Be vigilant when opening emails, or when downloading supposed 'free' programs on the internet. Stay away from dodgy sites too. :mrgreen:
