I am not sure how severe your dandruff problem is. It could merely be a reaction from the products you are using or really a fungal problem. This is going to be along post so bear with me but as a sufferer like you (it was so severe that my hair was starting to fall off) who has a lot of hit and miss in the past maybe you can pick some things from this:
1) Refrain from putting on too many products (gel , pomade, hair color etc..) on your hair/scalp. Even your conditioner should only be applied to the hair itself and not to the scalp.
2) This I just tried successfully recently... shift to ORGANIC products (shampoo and conditioner). When I did this wow! the itchiness right after shampoo stopped! I wish I did it sooner.
Organic is not necessarily expensive. I got mine from a stall selling organic products in Parkmall. (disclaimer I am not the owner nor am I related as a matter of fact I found the place after searching istorya.net and went to see what products they have.. I got the tea tree shampoo for dandruff) It is our bodies reaction to the parabens and sls that makes our scalp and follicles unhealthy. My conditioner I got from healthy options - the brand is Nature's Gate. Not expensive either for a big big bottle it was only P 190 which wil last me more or less 3 mos.
3) Take probiotics and garlic supplement (or just plain garlic if you are on a budget) if you suspect that your dandruff is fungal in nature. Fungus breeds when there is an imbalance in good and bad bacteria in your digestive system and garlic helps in supplementing the ability of our skin against infections and bacteria.
4) If you find the first 3 suggestions hard to believe (I suggest you do since this is from 17 years of finding a solution to my problem) then you might want to take the traditional route... NIZORAL... but the reason why this hasn't worked for some is because of wrong application. First wash the hair with usual shampoo to get out the dirt and dust. Then apply nizoral on the scalp and leave on for 2 minutes before rinsing off again. YOu will feel some relief but it will only be for 1 -2 months. Afterwhich your body will adapt and the problem comes back and you will end up going to 1-3. GOOD LUCK
