Yes, but how do you decrease the radius of the shuttle's orbit?

move the shuttle to lower orbit para lesser ang arc distance nga i travel.. just guessing hehehe
The intent (move the shuttle to lower orbit) is correct, but the reason (para lesser ang arc) is wrong but still a good try!

Your response "para lesser ang arc" is a classic example of intuitive thinking--meaning, your concern is more on distance travelled, when the issue here is more on gaining the velocity needed to reach the ISS, and to arrive at the answer, requires a bit of counterintuitive thinking.

wow daghan nata 5th graders..hehe wa mangud mi astronomy 101 looya..

master rodsky naa nasad ko sa 3rd base kay naa naman mga nakaasnwer hehe...

nway ok the shuttle needs to go to lower orbit to catch up..so n a lower orbit, it has to travel less distance each orbit, and would be catching up in no time..i have also read that if an object is in a lower orbit it moves faster..

i was wondering instead of catching up with the iss, the shuttle should just go to lower orbit and just wait and close in at the iss to join back in the higher orbit..

just goes to show the plight of the education system in the country.. basic astronomy is part of the topics discussed in 1st year highschool earth science. that is if your highschool has a subject on earth science. also only if your highschool is DOST backed also..

on the other hand, its basically just fun trivia as we don't use this kind of information currently in our daily lives..

but the point is, all this basic astronomy is not difficult to understand at all.. even a 5th grader in an american public school can understand this..

    Getting warmer...

Hint: Read up on Kepler's three laws...the answer lies somewhere there.

On the contrary, the state of the American educational system is so bad right now that the average American high school kid can't even locate the United States on a world map.

In space there is absolutely nothing against which a spacecraft can react in order to manoeuvre.
