All of them are Luzon-based. I saw some of the artwork of Sukolmo before and a few of them are actually quite good.

I mean each time I visit Manila, I always see comic book drawing seminars being offered. There\'s a lively community there, diri
I don\'t know. Kung naa man gani, close-knit group siguro.

Of course, there might be Cebuanos working incognito (low-profile) for DC Comics, Marvel, Top Cow, Image or for Japanese
comic book publishers (I met a USC art professor once who told me that he\'s disappointed that some of his students are in
Japane drawing hentai manga or anime - well, it\'s a living). Ako lang unta, if they have it, they should flaunt it as in \"Mga tol,
    ako nag-drawing cover page X-Men # 517, or ako nag-drawing background sa Mulan 2, etc.\")
I think you'd be proud to know that Leinil Francis Yu is a Cebuano. He's one of the hottest artists today and has pencilled for DC, Marvel, WildStorm, among others. I met him once and a friend told me he's Bisaya. I just had to confirm and asked him if he is. Sus! Before we knew it, gabinisaya na mi! Taga-Borromeo kuno iya family which I heard is still there. He now lives in a condo here in Manila earning a living as a comics artist.

so that's the story of sukolmo... at the time of their peak, i lost interest in comics and had no interest in mang a or anime. but i heard a bit of sukolmo's popularity from friends.

I've meet Ian few years back, he's working at bigfoot or something. I think he's a member here also.

    Hi preloader,

I am restarting learning today.Â* I bought the supplies needed in Chapter 1 of \"Drawing For The Absolute and Utter Beginner\".Â* I bought one of the
supplies in a hardware store, would you believe?Â* It is a gauge wire.Â* It bends whichever way you like it.Â* The first excercise asks you to follow the
wire with your eyes while drawing it.Â* I only scanned the excercise instructions so I\'m not sure if I should look at the paper or just the wire.Â* The
second section of the first chapter is about upside drawing.Â* The reader should stay in one chapter per week (dili kuno pwede i-rush kay subsequent
chapters build on the previous chapters\' learned skills).

I discovered that one of the reasons why beginners fail is that (1) they\'re too talent oriented.Â* If they see a finished artwork, they want their own
artwork to look exactly like it.Â* (2) They harshly self-judge themselves.Â* I think I was guilty of these two points mao wa dyud ko katuon maayo.Â* At least
now with books like these (that also shows work from fellow beginners), I\'m encouraged to continue.

I think painting and coloring requires a different skill set although fundamentals in drawing is still recommended (according to Harold Speed, 19th century
    painter).

I know that Kukuk\'s Nest is an okay place to meet.Â* I\'m not really sure about my own schedule but I agree with you that you should meet with fellow
beginners and learn together.Â* You see I\'m already married and I usually reserve my weekends for my family.Â* I\'d probably also take a night class learning
Nihongo in USC.Â* So the option left to me is to learn drawing alone (for now).Â* I don\'t want to hold up people who have more time on their hands.

actually dli ni cia daotan ing ani nga way of thinking. why? you're aiming at something. kung dli makaya you usually end with your own style unya later on marealize nimu nga, Hala! tungod sa paningkamot nimo ug ifollow, naka buhat ka imong own style. take it from me. I learned to draw from copying. karun naa nako own style which was heavily derived from ako gi kopya sa una and to think, you wont notice the similarities.

even my friend (was a sukolmo member years back) 4th year high school ra cia nagsugod ug drowing pero SUS! grabe masmaayo paman nako. thinking na ako nagstart since i was 10 years old. its all in the time and effort you dish out for drawing and your determination. pressure aside.... and oh, talent.

    @preloader:

    1) Put a piece of white paper on the left side of your table (if you\'re a rightie)

    2) Cut 15\" of black gauge wire and bend it whichever way you like

    3) Use pencil for your 1st drawing, black ballpen for your 2nd and 3rd

    4) Pick any point in the wire and draw it until you reach the other end of the wire

    5) Draw very slowly without lifting the pencil/pen from the paper

    6) You can look back and forth between your paper and the wire (dili blind contour drawing)

    7) Do not use eraser (accept mistakes)

Assess your work (I made the mistake of using my wrist. Tonight I\'ll use my whole arm).

    9) Do not go to the next step (upside drawing) until you honestly achieved the first step\'s objective (that is
slow observation, no broken lines, lines are smooth - dili kurog).

I like the author because she encourages you to build confidence step-by-step. At this rate basig 2 weeks per
chapter ko pero sige lang \"slow and steady\" man kuno importante sa sugod.
