Hi...Thank you for dropping by in this thread and i appreciate how you present your idea.
I think the best way for you to have a better understanding of the condition of women in Islam, and I believe that it is the only way, is for you to let your hands get dirty, so to speak, others would say burn some candles.
I would recommend you to visit this site...
Welcome to the Website of Muslim Women's League It contains a lot of beneficial information that would surely level your understanding about Muslimah(Muslim women).
to give you a little perspective here are some points that i would like to share to you.
- The Qur'an treats the female gender equally as clearly shown in the verse you quoted above.
to say 'must be treated equally' it means they should have access to education, position and other areas where they can excel and exercise their rights as a human being.
- The Qur'an also recommends that we must protect the dignity and the rights of women.
- The dress code serves the very purpose of upholding the dignity of women.
say, two women walked among men, one wears a skimpy attire and the other is wearing the traditional dress for muslimah, w/c of the two would you think has the highest percentage of getting a disrespectful gesture from these men?
but of course the dress code varies from different Islamic countries for example in U.A.E women there are more liberated than their KSA counterpart.
- Women in Islam have the right to earn their OWN money. The husband should provide the needs of the family. If the women desires to work or engaged in a business she can do so and the money that she earned is her own. naa ra niya kung hatagn ba niya iyang husband or dili.
But I have to admit that there are Islamic countries who are not following or should I say gives a different interpretation in relation to the Quranic verses on how women should be treated. Human as they are, subject to imperfections.
Gender inequity does exist and it is not only found in Islamic countries but also in other countries even in USA.
