@warsucks di kaha mao na ang gitawag nga night terror, which is also a sleep disorder. check sa wikipedia: Night terror - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia "A night terror, also known as a sleep terror or pavor nocturnus, is a parasomnia disorder characterized by extreme terror and a temporary inability to regain full consciousness. The subject wakes abruptly from slow-wave sleep, with waking usually accompanied by gasping, moaning, or screaming. They typically occur during non-rapid eye movement sleep."

or di kaha sad na sleep apnea? source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_apnea "Sleep apnea (or sleep apnoea in British English) is a sleep disorder characterized by pauses in breathing during sleep. Each episode, called an apnea (Greek: ἄπνοια (ápnoia), from α- (a-), privative, πνέειν (pnéein), to breathe), lasts long enough so that one or more breaths are missed, and such episodes occur repeatedly throughout sleep."

Sleep paralysis isn't that deadly as we all used to think. Actually it's a half state between waking state and dreaming state.

There are times that after a dream episode we wake up prematurely. When that happens, our brain didn't turn off the paralysis (by the way, when we are in a stage 4 sleep or the REM sleep, our brain paralyses our body in order not act out our dreams, get it?) so basically our mind is awake and the body still asleeps.

Now, as I said that it's a half state so we're awake yet we can still see our dream. If we realize that we cannot move...we start to panic and it triggers the limbic area (this is the area of our brain which handles our emotions) and turns on the panic mode so the fear heightens. And because of panic mode, we tend to see what we don't want to see and hear what we don't want to hear.

The danger part though...too much panic in this state could trigger a heart attack (labi na tong duna mga sakit sa kasingkasing, hypertension, etc. Mao nang duna agkamatay ani sa sleep paralysis kay nataranta.
(Nakabantay ba mo nga after mo nakamata gikan sa sleep paralysis ang atong kasingkasing kusog kaayo ug palpitation?)

The best thing to do when we encounter sleep paralysis, relax lang. Don't even force to move a finger or anything....just stay calm and let the brain turn off the paralysis.

I know these things coz I'm a psychologist.

Sa una di gyud ko motoo aning sleep paralysis until one time, gipa-tilaw gyud ko. I was sound asleep then naka-mata kog kalit, I was aware naa ko sa bed, I knew what time of the day it is, ganahan na ko mo-bangon pero di ko maka-lihok.. I tried to calm myself down pero ambot, di gyud malikayan nag palpitate gyud ko. It was such a relief nga finally naka-bangon ko after a few minutes, pero cge gihapon ang palpitations..

u point but in medical aspect there is no clear reason y bangungot happens it has many factors... dinhi gud sa ato once mo ingon kag bangungot or urom isa ra na... let me put it this way; 1+2=3 where 1= sleep paralysis, 2= factor that causes bangungot, 3= bangungot but here sa ato 1=2=3 so therefor periho ra sila tanan... hope sayon ra sabot ako explaination...

Even if your stomach is full, it doesn't cause any sleep paralysis. However, there are incidence that sleeping immediately when your stomach is full can trigger a stroke and same thing sa natulog diretso kay grabe ka hubog.

Naa koy gusto ipatesting sa inyo mga bros and sis....while on sleep paralysis...relax lang, dont make any sudden move and don't fall asleep...just observe lang. Diba, you'll feel na inyong body mura gi-envelope ug electricity (that is because the brain paralyses the body again to prepare for REM sleep) then suddenly naa na mo sulod sa damgo "dreams" and the best thing....aware pa mo nga gadamgo mo while sleeping.

Usually, some scientist use sleep paralysis as means to enter into "Lucid Dream State" (It's a dream state when you are aware that you're dreaming while dreaming)

I've done it before along with my colleagues, it works wonders.
