    @newton, the essence of the Sabbath is not the exact day, it is the idea itself of spending a day off for the Lord alone, weather it be Sunday or Saturday, as long as you assigned that day to worship Him. That is what Jesus also meant when He explicitly disobeyed the strict observance of Sabbath by the pharisees by healing the sick and His apostles doing labors prohibited during Sabbath.

    Please stop policing our faith, you and your predecessors have had so much futile attempts for the past 2000 years, look at where we are now, strong as ever the church Jesus himself instituted.

    i dont think so. Sabbath is a special day of the Lord. iya kaha na e blessed and sanctify nga day if dli special? dba mo ingon man mo nga ang Sabbath wala na na after death ni Jesus.

    remember that this is the only commandment which has the word "REMEMBER" the Sabbath day to keep it "HOLY"

    James Cardinal Gibbons, Archbishop of Baltimore (1877-1921), in a signed letter.
    "Is Saturday the seventh day according to the Bible and the Ten Commandments? I answer yes. Is Sunday the first day of the week and did the Church change the seventh day -Saturday - for Sunday, the first day? I answer yes . Did Christ change the day'? I answer no!

    "Faithfully yours, J. Card. Gibbons"

    sory, can't find text from the Bible.
    The Catholic Church has ever believed that her Lord has left her an empowerment to bind and to loose the souls of men, to remit and to retain the sins of which in their rebellion or their waywardness men have rendered themselves guilty. The direct commission is recorded in the Gospel according to St. John as having been given to the Apostles on the evening of the Day of Resurrection, when after breathing on them the Lord said;

    "RECEIVE YE THE HOLY GHOST : WHOSE SOEVER SINS YE REMIT, THEY ARE REMITTED UNTO THEM; AND WHOSE SOEVER SINS YE RETAIN THEY ARE RETAINED [John 20:21-23]

    When the Lord thus breathes upon the Apostles, He is in the traditional acceptance of the Church to be understood as conveying at that point of time the actual commission which He expresses in words. From that point of time His ministers stand commissioned to remit and to retain the sins of their fellow-men. OK?

    James Cardinal Gibbons, The Faith of our Fathers, 88th ed., pp. 89.
    "But you may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we never sanctify."

    Stephen Keenan, A Doctrinal Catechism 3rd ed., p. 174.

    "Question: Have you any other way of proving that the Church has power to institute festivals of precept?
    "Answer: Had she not such power, she could not have done that in which all modern religionists agree with her-she could not have substituted the observance of Sunday, the first day of the week, for the observance of Saturday, the seventh day, a change for which there is no Scriptural authority
    ."
    sorry can't find your article...it would be best to read at least the whole content...not just an excerpt...
