Kahayag Café continues to support Cebu's talented musicians…



Every last Wednesday's of the month is Open Mic Night, A friendly showdown where soloist, duo and bands stride up the stage to play 3 of their favorite songs. The audiences are given a piece of paper in which they personally vote for their top 3 most loved musicians. Open Mic Nights have begun since the birth of Kahayag Café last April 2002. Aside from the good food, homey ambiance and great service, we offer our customers soulful entertaining plus more! It's a melting pot where artists, performers, poets, writers, food lovers, nature trippers and all sorts of interesting people hang out.


Discovering and honing Cebu's highly talented musicians have been one of our primary goals. One does not need to be part of a real band/group just to join the Open Mic Night. One does not even have to have a great voice or be a spectacular instrument player just to come up the stage. All it needs is a fusion of passion, creativity and a little confidence. With Kahayag's intimate & homey ambiance plus the moral support from the appreciative audience, one can truly express him/herself.

Last June 28, 2006, we held the official 6th Open Mic Friendly Cup sponsored by Converse. 1 st place winners were the Pop-Alternative band, Pandora winning 1 pair of Converse shoes each. Shirts, caps and other items were also given away. The official hosts were the hilarious Eugene Corpin and Sidney Alburro, of the ever-popular Bisaya Rock musicians, Aggressive Audio. Aside from the comical antics and wit of Eugene & Sidney, they were aptly chosen to be the hosts for this monthly event for a very special reason. They remain close to Kahayag Café's heart because they were discovered in our very own Open Mic Sessions two years ago. Since then, they have become our regular performers. Up to the present, Kahayag Café remains to be the "breeding ground" where more talented musicians can sing and play their hearts out.
