This is a forum, nadiscuss or wala, everyone is entitled to voice out their opinion. If you dont feel like rebutting, then just ignore it. But suppressing ones ideas just because it has been voiced out by someone else is way out of line.

Then I guessed its settled then. Let everyone buy what the heck he or she wants to buy with his/her money. Let us not be judgmental and LET US NOT ASSUME and make PRESUMPTIONS as to what drive a certain individual to go for that product. MAO RA MAN NA. Respect their judgment. If they go for it, then let them be. Its their money anyway. Again, you dont have to understand to respect their decision.

If spartan can come up with a durable and comfortable flip flops
comparable to the level of havaianas, and sold around 70 pesos
would there be a shift from havaianas lovers to spartan?

Would people be practical to get the cheaper one or prefer the flip flops
    shouting the havaianas name?

Sometimes it is just brand recognition.
Havaianas have successfully captured the brand image on consumers.

    Here's a concept about branding.

Some people distinguish the psychological aspect of a brand from the experiential aspect.
The experiential aspect consists of the sum of all points of contact with the brand AKA brand experience. The psychological aspect is a symbolic construct created within the minds of people and consists of all the information and expectations associated with a product or service.
People engaged in branding seek to develop or align the expectations behind the brand experience, creating the impression that a brand associated with a product or service has certain qualities or characteristics that make it special or unique.
A brand is therefore one of the most valuable elements in an advertising theme, as it demonstrates what the brand owner is able to offer in the marketplace.

On consumers, the brand serves to denote a certain attractive quality or characteristic.
From the perspective of brand owners, branded products or services also command higher prices.
So when two products resemble each other, but one of the products has no associated branding (such as a generic, store-branded product), people may often select the more expensive branded product on the basis of the quality of the brand or the reputation of the brand owner.

There is always an associated mental image on consumers with regards to branding.

Did you see me supress anything? Even after I adviced him to scroll up, I still posted my rebuttal. I just don't want to sound like a broken record.. and unlike some people here, I scroll up and even scroll back a few pages to backtrack the conversation.

Some politicians enter the game of politics to steal the taxpayers money... would you still respect their judgement? Would you just let them be because you refuse to be so judgmental? Do you have an opinion about these things or would you rather keep them to yourself.

Same thing sa mga adis adis... they use their last cash to get a fix. Unahon ang bisyo kaysa pagkaon or unsa pa diha. Unsa may opinion nimo ani nila? Do you think that what they're doing is wrong? It's pretty much the same you know.. when you perceive that something is wrong, you have an opinion on why it is wrong. Now, it's up to you if you want to voice out your opinion or not.. but this is a FORUM. And if you'd rather keep your opinions to yourself... then you are in the wrong place.

Again... this is a forum. We are not telling people what to do. We are simply voicing out and discussing our difference of opinions. Am I being judgemental in the process? Maybe so - but then again, I am entitled to having my own opinions and I am not forcing them onto other forum members.

Actually, we don't perceive them Havaianas as expensive, actually.. quite the opposite. And - we do experience warm weather here. We do have summers you know and it gets really hot .. even hotter than back home in Pinas. Diha sa Pinas you don't get heatwaves, diri we do.

Well, clearly I dont keep my opinion to myself . There is a thin line between mere discussion and being judgmental.

Politicians are a very different thing, criticizing another person you do not have any business to is another thing.

Politicians are elected by us to represent us. If by any way we thought that we are not well represented, then by all means you can shout your heart out and walk the streets in Mendiola.

Generally, kung unahon man ang bisyo, ie, collection of books, cds, bags, etc, it is generally non of our business really. Pero to your example, syempre dili, the difference? Because we all know it is illegal. G? If what they are doing, however impractical it may seems, as long as it is not against the law, and is not hurting anyone other than maybe themselves, unsay pakialam nato?

We dont have heatwaves, yes. But the point I guess is that here in the Philippines we can use flip flops 365 days in a year. But I agree that Havaianas is not expensive and quite the opposite.
