    Sandals tattered and mangled
    they ought to have looked
    like wretchedness made tactile
    But they were beautiful
    These simple shards of leather
    that caress my calloused feet
    And protect them against the
    quadrillion fine, particulate granules
    That want to slowly chew
on the flesh of my soles
    As I walk upon its

They remind me of a dead tree
    in the middle of nowhere
It sits there, crying out to the sky
    in the silence of death
Yet it tells me where I am
    because it still stands there

    Still a million paces remain
    Minus ten or two
    before reaching oasis
    A bowl of sand
    the size of the sky
    Stands between me and
    the future

    Yet I do not know
    upon my arrival

    if there

    will be

    water.

from one of my posted poems sa poetry.com

    The Dreamer And The Dreamed

Always I have dreamed of you
Since the day I have seen you
I think of your eyes so gentle
The moment I see them sparkle

I dreamed of myself dreaming of you
And I dreamed of you dreaming of me too
But in reality you don't even know that I exist
For I'm just a forgotten ghost nobody missed

In my mind I see only you
And I feel you so close to me
But there is nothing that I can do
Except to dream of you endlessly

    You're so beautiful that's why I pray
That my soul be free and be redeemed
But I guess we shall always stay...
    The dreamer and the dreamed.

here's another one that they chose.

    Embrace Of The Nocturnal

The night belongs to me and to my brethren
I am their father and they are my children
We live in the underworld at the gates of Hades
Where the sun has no power over our dark cities

We drink at your flowing crimson rivers of life
It is sacred to our kind for it keeps us alive
We cannot grow old and we know no misery
We cannot die for we grasp divine immortality

I have everything and yet I still covet something
I want to seek refuge at the cross since the beginning
Perhaps it fuels this false hope of desperate salvation
Away from this morbidity and bloody damnation

I will embrace the light of day and I will not resist
I shall find it fascinating, afterall I am no solipsist
I feel complete to have made peace with what I shun
And for the first time in my nocturnal life, I saw the sun.

and another one that poetry.com also chose for publication.

    Listen To Your Heart

There you are just staring at me
Your honest smile just as cute as could be
And your piercing eyes are slowly killing me
With just one look, I would be set free

Of all the statues, I chose your monument
On it I shall engrave divine immortality
For all of my feelings of love and of torment
My love shall stay for all eternity

Listen to your heart and heed its cry
Let you alone judge fairly and kindly
But hear me and remember I tell you no lie
That I will love you endlessly.

this fourth chosen poem is in bisaya and until now, i'm still wondering why they chose it. it's not like the americans can speak bisaya, right?

Daw Siyagit Sa Usa Ka Lamok

this is one of my favorites.

    Only Time Will Tell

    Time is like flowing water
    Flowing steadily across a river
It is not fast nor it is slow
But it's constant for all we know

I wish that time would stop
And spend eternity just being with you
But I also know that time can develop
This special feeling inside of me for you

You are the one who's always in my mind
And my heart would start to shine then
I know these words for you I'll find
If only time would tell when.

it's been almost 6 years since i've last written a poem. but i want to write poetry again. there's nothing more freer than expressing your emotions or what's on your mind in a free-flowing verse. just write. even if nobody reads poetry anymore, just write. but i guess i was wrong about nobody reading poetry anymore, because here in istorya.net, i met some good poetic souls and they kinda inspired me to write again. i guess i'll try. but i'm a little rusty already. hehehe.
