Pra nako wal jud koy blema anang 12% EVAT bisan 20% pa basta dagko lang ta og salary pra equally proportional lang. Other country's bitaw dagko man cla tax pru okey lang kay aside of being having enough and expensive salary makita man sab like, just look at their country how progressive and industrialize. Ang ato tawn, igo ra sa mga corrupt politicians ang tax, kulang pa.
this increase in our taxes is good not now but later!!!!! so, sacrifice lang sa ta ron kay if the revenue wud be collected fearly, then surely we can attain comfort in the future!!!
Am still hoping for the best! I hope dili ni e apil nila og sulod sa bulsa.
well, it's sad to know that finally, it came into effect..there's no stopping from prices to go up..but wages are still the same..
i do hope this 2% increase will benefit the taxpayers NOT in the hands of corrupt public officials..
The trouble with pinoys is that we believe taxes are used just to stuff the pockets of corrupt politicians, and not used for anything else. Sure, some of it gets lost, but some of it is also used for development. Where do we think our roads come from? Or our public schools? We whine and complain about our taxes, and then expect development to turn up like magic.
well, take a look at our country..we do have road developments and infrastructures BUT it won't last long because of poor maintenance..building them is not enough, it's a continuous process..sometimes, they only act during campaign period or some few months before elections...Originally Posted by Deus
VAT profiteers face raps, loss of permits
http://www.manilastandardtoday.com/?...s01_feb02_2006
The government warned it will cancel the permits of retailers taking advantage of the higher value added tax to jack up prices and file criminal charges against those caught overpricing more than once.
The value added tax rose to 12 percent from 10 percent effective yesterday, triggering fears of price gouging.
But Trade Secretary Peter Favila said the government would go after profiteers even as he released a primer indicating the suggested retail prices of basic commodities such as canned goods, milk, and instant noodles.
“Unscrupulous profiteers should be warned that we will not hesitate to take action against those who will take advantage of the VAT increase,” he told a press briefing in Malacañang.
“We will publish these price lists to guide consumers as to just how much they should pay,” he said, adding three traders at the Trabajo Market in Manila were fined for jacking up their prices even before the new tax rate had taken effect.
Buses, jeepneys and taxis may not increase fares because they are not covered by the tax increase, he said. Also yesterday, the Department of Agriculture said the higher value added tax would have a minimal effect on farm products.
Agriculture Secretary Domingo Panganiban told the same Malacañang briefing that the higher tax would increase the prices of basic agricultural products by P0.10 to a maximum P1.70 per kilogram
