@ vern: u can visually identify if its a D0 stepping thru the box...there is an sSpec number there...it should be SLBEJ....if its SLBCH then its a C0/C1...the D0 runs on lesser voltage, lesser temps...so the potential of a better overclock...but that is not a guarantee...w/in those revisions there are the batches(BATCH#)...all are basically made from the same design, but due to manufacturing inconsistensies they vary on thermal/voltage properties...for example...in the C0 stepping the common batches were 3837, 3838 & 3841...batch 3841 were generally the better performing overclockers...unfortunately for me i got the 3838 batch, the worst, u can't barely oc it...if u got the D0 w/ the Batch# with the "49B" in middle u are so lucky...

@vern: on the box..the white sticker and located on the right hand side below the "i7 920" word and look for the letter combination that corresponds to the "s-spec". The bottom box on the photo is a C0 stepping and the other two on top are D0 stepping.
Batch# on the lower left side and corresponding number should have a "B". Batch #for the D0 on the photo is : 3846B109. This batch needs only 1.275 vcore for 4.2 ghz and it's prime95 stable. Glide1's water cooling set up was able to clock it @ 4.5 ghz and could have gone higher but bottle neck either RAM or the board or have hit the bclk wall
D0 = Sspec: SLBEJ
C0 = Sspec: SLBCH

master i got the 3842 batch on the C0..same clockers ra ni sila sa 3841? I was having hard time going near the 4 ghz mark and temps was way up there already

if the computer is already up and running, download and run CPU-Z, the revision field contains the stepping of the processor. the general conception when it comes to stepping is that the higher the number and the letter is, the better. although not all the time, this is usually the case.

@ centax: don't know bai kung better ba na imong batch...but generally C0/C1 init gyud tu sya...
sa kadtong nag pm kung unsa nang batch# here is some info:
example: 3846B109
1st digit(3) = plant code
2nd digit( 8 ) = year produce
3rd-4th digit(46) - week(so this is week 46)
5th-8th digit(B109) - serialization code

Alright so I have a C0 and my batch number is 3837B803. What are the chances of a decent stable overclock on this processor?
Also, something related ... how big of a power supply do I need for my peripherals and the processor? Including the memory, processor, i have 1TB HDs x 5, Blu-Ray, DVD-RW, plus case fans. Before I unplugged 2 HDs, case fans and my optical drive ... my system would get Blue Screens out of the yin-yang. When I ran Super Pi, the temperatures never went above 44C but the system just froze, no blue screen on the 3rd iteration. Ran it again with some hardware unpowered and it completed all loops. It seems stable now so could my lowly 650W PS be the problem? If so, how much power do you guys suggest? ... perhaps a certain make/model?
