^ nah, don't be afraid. as i said earlier, these processors protect themselves very well. just get a good board, a decent cooling, get to know the specs of your processor (voltage, heat, etc.) and the basics of overclocking and you're set.

in my opinion, the rewards of overclocking outnumber the risks if done properly.

Well you have to turn of all the safety features before you can overclock properly or those power saving features.
Well my Q6600 is at 3.2ghz as of right now. Its considered moderate Overclocking. I don't see the benifits above this speed except for bragging purposes or competitions.

so much about the bragging though, OC is also about FUN and adrenalin RUSH....don't you just love the feel when you crank up that voltages and tweak settings in the bios then while waiting for it to reboot your blood starts rushing to your veins and heart pumping fast and hope it wont BSOD? there's that momentary lapse of sensation when you know that you're walking through a very thin line between a medium rare or an over cooked procie Achieving higher clocks is just a compliment and an UNJUST justification you always tell yourself every time you dropped in a pricey component into your PC that you only use to run Prime95 and CPUz

TCC (Thermal Control Circuit) and #THERMTRIP cannot be configured by software (BIOS). Even if you disable safety features in the BIOS, these assertions are still active.

that could be true. I saw that clip in youtube where in they removed the heatsink of the proc while playing unreal tournament comparing both AMD and Intel. AMD seemed to smoke out while Interestingly Intel slowed down severely when the heat sets in. from 60fps the game slowed down like 10fps when removing the heatsink. This could be the Tcc feature.

^ that is my curiosity. i've already experienced #PROCHOT with TCC activated, next stop: #PROCHOT, TCC then i'm going for #THERMTRIP. kung naa na siguro ko new processor, i'll go for broke just to satisfy that curiosity.

good if u play COD4 while the system is OC'ed with safety features turned off, hehehe..
