@hell and siodenz, you will never understand, no philosophical words or of any faculty can contain the faith animated by those devotees.
They are living their life normally even with those "absurdities" you are observing, because somehow this "divine energy" is allowing it to occur, maybe perhaps nothing is wrong and it is not "absurd" to the eyes of the universal truth.

bisan ako nga Katoliko maglisod ug sabot, but we are prospering as we are, no karma or whatsoever if ever those traditions are not right, as a matter of fact, most of my relatives struggles through poverty with the help of our religion, because they believe that God will recognize their hardworkds and sacrifices, just imagine, taga-Pinamungajan mo adto ug Opon para lang mohawk sa Birhen sa Regla ug managkot. But for generations, my relatives survive we even established ourselves here in Cebu from scratch.
