If you happen to be a Cebuano who’s quiet proudÂ* of touring around Cebu from North to South, well think again. You might not have stopped by the Islands of Camotes. To some you might be thinking that Camotes is just like the other spots in Cebu or you might be thinking that its not part of Cebu or worst you might be thinking that it does not exist at all. Well of course much of it still has its own touch of what Cebu can offer, it is a part of Cebu and yes it does exist but trust me it has its own unique attraction to share and its worth discovering.
For one, where can you find these days white sand beaches that you can enjoy just for 10 pesos or even for free? Well you might think I could be bluffing but once you get to Barangay Santiago in San Francisco, you will really see that what you paid is more than worth it! If you are a skimboarder then the waves are friendlier and smoother. Well if you’re the type who likes to unwind in a posh resort, you can also have an option to go to a nearby resort and pay more. But dahling I’m telling you, it pays to be practical.
Another good reason is lake Danao still found in San Francisco, Camotes. If you wanna go fishing for tilapia, then this place is just for you. You can also rent one of the motorboats in the lake and tour around it for better appreciation of the place. And this time is a good place to visit the lake since the municipality of San Francsico is now developing it.
If you’re the type who wants to camp out or if you like to go mountain climbing and stop by at wondrous caves then the town of Poro can offer it to you. It is where Boho Rock Resort is located, where you will see amazing rock formations. Poro has mountaintops that can give you a good view of the islands and even have a look at the night-lights in Isabella Leyte. Well if you’re really posh and wants to have a good night sleep then you can visit My Little Island Hotel.
Going to the islands is just a two-hour ferryboat away. You can have two options in getting there. Take a 4-hour ship or a two-hour ferryboat. The ship can give you a good sleep and the ferryboat can give you a good look at the islands. The ship travels from pier 1 and pier 2 to the town of Poro. And the local ferry boats travel from the port of Danao to Poro. There is another ferryboat though that travels from Mandaue Ouano Wharf to the port of poro. It is much bigger and much comfortable.
we stayed at my little island hotel the last time i went there.for me it was great.great view, accomodations for a little island hotel.(well it surpassed my expectations) they have a website but i forgot it.i guess i still have one post card left.i got 2 and i sent one already.naa na ba kaha signal didto?i can't wait to go back there.
