dude, when i checked your unit i remembered to place the exposure compensation to zero. took perfectly exposed shoots using Av or Tv. diba?

yes manual mode offers a great deal of control and percise results. we all should learn to use it hehehe!

but you knw what dude, it wasnt exposure ang problem sa mga shots nimo that night. it was still your focusing...about 50% of the shoots were off focus. at least its a lot better than the 20% focus shots made during the last 2 VA u did for me hehe!

Balik sa Mirror Flap/Shutter: Wla ko kabasa ani before sa advertisement nila sa 300D karon specific na cila sa 5D...
"With a top shutter speed of 1/8000 sec. and with a remarkable 100,000-cycle shutter life, it truly is a camera built to professional standards."
Unsa diay ang shutter life sa 300D?
300d and 350d are rated 50k shutter life, but i have friends in manila who have taken more than 60k and still going strong. sometimes there are really bad copies among batches made by canon.
20d and 5d are rated 100k shutter life. while the 1d series are rated 200k.
heres my own opinion regarding shutter dterioration... its most likely to fail sooner when you shoot fast shutter speeds often (more than 1/800). if you dont need to shoot fast shutter speeds, avoid it. the mirror slams with a different pressure with fast shutter speeds. unless you are shooting fast moving subjects that you'd want to stop the motion, there is no use shooting that way. even with a very shaky hand 1/400 would be enough i guess. use high shutter speeds only on special occasional shots. you have to remember, these are mechanical parts thats bound to fail sooner or later.
most of us who were into film cameras before maybe never had a problem with shutter malfunction due to high shutter counts... hehehe mahal ang film... during a sinulog shoot before ang ako budget is only six rolls of 36, while karon nga digital na i took around 900 shots (25 rolls of 36) including the fireworks. that is why our cameras now mas bogbog kaysa film cameras.

so far i've been very happy with canon's service and support.
sometimes meron mishap (all repairs are still in manila not here in cebu but at least naa sila presence here. that better than having none).
anyhow they always fix any of my concerns naman as quickly as possible.
in most cases inside a week or two. a month is as long as i normally have to wait.
of course meron exeptions but all in all its understandable and fair naman sila.

regarding that 8months thing id demand they give an entire new unit if it was me...
(yes ive gotten brand new sets from problematic items from them in the past 5 years just proving thier integrity to the warranty and support.)
however regarding pidz friend, i asked canon bout this and they say its how the P setting of that camera works daw. even comparing it with other 300D's daw.(never saw the unit so i can't confirm or discount this fact) pa anhia siya sa shop let me take a look at the camera pidz. ako magisog didto sa canon kung tinuog gyud guba ang exposure...

and honestly i've tested Agoroy's unit and to me its exposure is dead on. no over exposure what so ever.
IT WAS PERFECT! sometimes its user fault man sad gud. lets not judge the company too quickly
Boss Mark, thats why na confuse sad ko sa iyang comment kay i know you have concerns with canon, dili man magdugay.. ma asikaso man dayon nila, maybe with few exception.. i duno boss mark, maybe kurog lang gyud sila nimo..hehehe

but this what ive heard from him and as you can see, some of our fellow istoryans..

RE: exposure setting.. he tried it daw.. lahi gyud "daw". even seting it to -2, over exposed "daw". i think he is basing it from the performance before he had his cam repair and now.. its different na ug result. I cant vouch for him though, coz im no expert and another thing i havent seen it personally too.. ill tell him lang to see you..so you can personally check it. If its busted or maybe he just lapse on some procedures to take the right exposures

but still im a bit concernd of the increasing complains canon is recieving right now..MINUANO is right. they should put more effort on customer service and train more tech personels

CORRECT! they should have a service center here...station a technician in cebu...more efficiency...less waiting...then every canon user is even more happier!
