you don't get it. i did not say the US wants the philippines. i meant that the US wants what it finds useful in the philippines. the distinction is very clear. that's exactly the reason the US will not take the philippines: as a whole it is a liability, but there are many things in it that the US can exploit. once the US is finished chewing the philippines dry it will leave this archipelago to rot. and i'm not complaining...

mangoes...hmm...i didn't think of that...superficial, but it is a start. paying handsomely you say? perhaps, for some things, although i don't know where the payment goes. i'm not in the habit of pointing fingers. other things, they have no monetary equivalence. anyway, time will tell...
