Just saying this according to what you've been posting in this thread. You said you don't judge right? But you already did. Your even tagging some istoryans.

I dunno if you're going to acknowledge this as friendly criticism or bombard me with strong languages in which case, you've been using on your latest posts in this thread.

Blessed are those who doesn't see but still believes +_+
Is it possible for God to exist without the religious baggage?
God not Equal to Religion
I believe in a God that is not constrained to a particular religion. Sa akong na observe sa religion.. it divides people more than it unifies. It is a tool by which people gain control over others (colonized by the cross) acting on behalf of God.. and it makes me sick to see the wars, crusades, jihads resulting in millions of death all because of people acting in God's name. This doesn't include the number of persecuted people who had different beliefs as those who are in power.
On the Bible and other religious texts
For me, God exisits.. but I don't believe that he speaks only thru the Bible. The Bilble and all other religious texts are the approved, translated, compiled books edited by man written by different people under different times, circumstances and continuously given new interpretation by Man based on the times. Each religion has its own "bible" as a basis for its teaching. And each religion is claiming that his or her religion is "THE" religion and the others are FAKE. Religion is a belief system made by Man. It is not a universal truth and I do not see the God I believe in preferring one religion over another. I believe in the bible as Man's interpretation in his search for God. The words in the bible weren't written hundreds of years ago only... they continue to be written today through religious leaders constantly writing "revisions" and "improvements". In that sense.. the Bible isn't a static literature written long ago.. but it is constantly evolving as we are continuously on a quest to understand God.
On Religion and Science
For me, religion is an attempt by man to know God.. as science is an attempt to explain our existence. Both have their means of seeking truth but in the end, both have the same goal.. which is a deeper understanding of ourselves and our place in the universe.
Religion, Faith and Reason
The problem with religion relying one faith alone in my opinion is that faith is used as a scapegoat everytime we can't comprehend something. It bars us from asking why things are as they are and makes us content with things just as they are. It limits the creativity of man to explore the unknown and gain more understanding of his surroundings. Time and time again, many religious "Faiths" such as earth being flat and the earth being the center of the world, shroud of Tourin, and many many other "faiths" have been disproved by science. In the process of theses faiths, many have been persecuted, jailed and even put to death. This is why I find faith alone problematic. This is why I believe faith and reason must coexist... that we do not immediately believe but we think deeper about things we put our faith and trust on. This makes that thing we believe in more special and it makes the journey to discover more about our beliefs all the more worthwhile. It makes us humble in the sense that we accept that we know so little and there is still so much we need to know and to discover.
I respect the religious who have faith in God and do good deeds on behalf of their church's teachings. I also respect those who don't believe in God yet help others through humanitarian missions and donations.
In the end... which one of these sounds better.....
I will do good because of God
or
I will do good inspite of God
I cringe everytime I hear people say.. they are God Fearing people... shouldn't we Love God instead of Fearing him? Shouldn't our reason for doing good not stem from fear but from Love instead?
