    to Dell laptop users:
    mine is inspiron 1420
it says in the manual that the internal circuitry of the laptop prevents it from overcharging when it reaches max power, and i also noticed that after having max batteries, the LED which denotes charging turns off, is this a good sign? what are your views about it? thanx!

spill proof lge ang keyboards, but not the speakers! not the ports and the underside! only the keyboard is spill-proof, to those laptops which are labelled spill proof

    Handling Your Laptop with Care

There are some things people do to their laptops that can put them in great danger. One major example is letting their laptop charge for longer than it needs to. Most laptop owners are under the impression that if they leave their laptop on the charger for as long as possible, they'll be able to get more "juice" (power) out of it. And that's just simply not true. In reality, you're just damaging it and putting it at risk of over heating or exploding. Listed below are a few other harmful things you should be sure to keep your laptop away from.

    • Over charging.

    • Not handling it with care.

    • Incorrectly replacing its batteries.

    • Leaving it turned on for too long.

    • Leaving it in a high humidity climate.

    • Tampering with the battery compartment.

    • Switching to non-manufacturer batteries.

    • Refusing to turn it off after it's become extremely hot.

    • Trying to repair or reuse a battery that has no more power.

    • Using a charger that didn’t originally come with the laptop.

    • Charging it in an area around too many other cords (extension cords, for example).

Despite what you might think, over charging your laptop will not give it more "juice." It will only make it hotter. You should also always use the charger that came with your laptop. When your laptop gets too hot, you should turn it off or at least put it into Safe Mode. You need to keep your laptop in a cool area as much as possible. Now, when replacing the battery, you should refer back to the manual that came with your laptop to get the correct instructions for doing so. You should only use batteries that have been approved by the manufacturer as well.

The above guidelines apply to cell phones as well. You should only use the charger that originally came with your phone and once it's fully charged, take it off the charger. Even more, you should only replace the battery with one that has been manufacturer approved and finally, if your phone gets too hot, just turn it off completely. If you follow these rules, your precious devices will last much longer!

This guide is a joke, its full of half truths and marketing ploy than anything really substantial.

[*]Over charging. laptops stops charging when battery gets full and if the laptop is on, the laptop draws power directly from the outlet. you cant kill a laptop if you leave it plugged in most of the time. in fact not charging it does more harm. unplugging it while using it even though you have access to outlet is just a waste of battery life. batteries have life cycles...charge 500, 1000, 2000 times before they need replacing. unplugging it while you are using it just coz it says on the screen battery fully charged only wears out the battery faster

[*]Incorrectly replacing its batteries. Its impossible to insert a laptop battery incorrectly, else it wont fit! its like fitting a block into a circular hole. even a toddler can figure that one out.

[*] Leaving it turned on for too long. i have several laptop running 24-7 for many years hasnt killed one yet. i have it plugged in all the time. i use battery power during blockouts and few times a month just keep the juices flowing. battery life last longer that way

[*] Leaving it in a high humidity climate. here in the Philippines we are in a high humidity climate...can't be avoided. hundreds of thousands of laptop users here in the philllipines done seem to experience any issues with it. leaving your laptop in the car under the heat of the sun, now that should be avoided.

[*] Refusing to turn it off after it's become extremely hot. if a laptop becomes extremely hot then there is something wrong with it. it should be fixed. not being used! besides the laptop will freeze or shut itself off should that occur.
[*] Charging it in an area around too many other cords (extension cords, for example).
yeah you might trip or knock over the laptop. this is actually a good one hehe

marketing... ever saw one or three
[*] Switching to non-manufacturer batteries. Buy original brands over priced batteries...hehehe...
[*] Trying to repair or reuse a battery that has no more power. ayaw lagi mo pagdaginot sa inyong laptop...buy original brands over priced batteries lagi
[*] Using a charger that didn’t originally come with the laptop. hmmm, so that means if the charger blew up, got chewed by the dog/rats, lost, or soaked in flood water...even though the lappy is still in top shape, bury it and buy a new laptop of the same brand hehehe?

When your laptop gets too hot, you should turn it off or at least put it into Safe Mode. SAFE MODE?? seriously who ever made this guide doesnt seem to know what he is talking bout. safe mode is the same a having the laptop on. its not like sleep mode or hiberante mode or shutdown mode.

if your phone gets too hot, just turn it off completely. If you follow these rules, your precious devices will last much longer! if it gets too hot then there is something wrong with the phone/battery/charge...you should have it checked and fix/replaced not keep using (whoever wrote this sound dumber ever line he writes) how can it last longer when its already caput at that stage.

btw if you plug in a charger to a phone, it automatically initiates a startup (not complete bootup) thus there is no way to completely turn off a phone when a charger is connected to it. notice when phone is completely off when you plug in a charger it lights up and display is turned on,etc.

I dont think all laptops have that capability which prevents it from overcharging. Maybe the newer models, they are protected from overcharging but I dont think with the older ones. You should still be careful though, especially if you're plugging on an extension wire or octopus connection, disturbance in the electricity flow will probably damage your AC port.

ive been working with laptops since the early 90's...mac's and pc's...
i havent seen a laptop that doesnt stop charging when its battery is full (assuming that the lappy is working perfectly as it should)

so name one laptop that actually overcharges and overheats and damages the battery/laptop when battery is fully charged and AC cord is still plugged in. bisan unsa ka karan basta dagan pa ron...go

"octupus connection" is a fire hazard no matter the device plugged in to it...dapat di na nimo buhaton. this is like saying dont dip your laptop in the pool. or dont run it over with a truck. this shouldnt be done with any gadget/electrical equipment. (unless its designed for underwater use gyud or gadget to weight in a truck or how much torque it produces, etc. hehe)

plugging it 30mins a day...plugging it 24 hours a day...same risk, when a surge comes, syempre it can cause damage. thats why our outlets come with surge protectors thats why every single PC, TV, VCR, electric can opener, refrigerator we have at home is connected to an AVR's.
