WEIGH IN PICS "Champion vs Champion" Penalosa VS Lopez
![]()
KO man bro
WBO junior featherweight champion Juan Manuel ‘Juanma’ Lopez (25-0, 23 KOs) scored a brilliant ninth round TKO over WBO bantamweight champion Gerry Penalosa (54-7-2, 36 KOs) on Saturday night at the Coliseo Rubén Rodríguez in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. Lopez was superb as he outpunched a very motivated Penalosa for nine brutal rounds. Penalosa’s trainer Freddie Roach stopped the fight between rounds nine and ten. Lopez has now scored 13 consecutive knockouts
Juanma won every round. despite being beaten convincingly, i had to give my utmost respect to Gerry for standing his ground, continuing to fight despite all odds.
while it's been labeled as a TKO, Gerry never got knocked down. Roach stopped the fight as it's apparent that despite Gerry's skills and will, he's physicality is limited against a younger and fresher Juanma. Gerry was able to deal a couple of counter rights but they're not strong or fast enough to do any real damage against Juanma.
Juanma looked good but he is hittable. should he encounter someone who is as resilient as Gerry but with a much better speed and power, then we can have an interesting and challenging fight.
wala dyuy swerte si GP pero payts man gha[pon iya gpakita.... wala dyd sya natumba pero kulatado pod..
