PJ dares Mike to one-on-one debate

REP. Pablo John Garcia (Cebu Province, 3rd district) yesterday dared Cebu City Acting Mayor Michael Rama to a “one-on-one public debate” on questions about the South Road Properties (SRP), including City Hall’s joint venture with a private developer.

His sister, Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, disputed Rama’s statement that President Arroyo allowed the sale of SRP lots through a presidential proclamation.

She offered to provide the acting mayor with a copy of Presidential Proclamation 843, which transferred the ownership of a portion of the Cebu South Reclamation to the City Government. It also declared the properties “alienable and disposable.”
“I cannot believe that a person charged with the responsibility of running a city for the time being, at least, can speak so
ignorantly about an issue,” said the governor.

Rama, in a separate interview, said he will not accept Congressman Garcia’s challenge to a debate, saying he would prefer to deal with the issue in a congressional hearing or answer the complaints in court.

“They already said their allegations in Congress so we will wait until we will be given a chance to present our side. A debate won’t bring us anywhere. Maybe it should be a court case. I’d prefer a court case rather than grandstanding in the halls of Congress,” Rama said.

let's see the outlook of all these and i bet with the condition nga di pa "ma-game over" ang kinabuhi ni tomas, di na sila makaugpo bisan magtabang pa ang 6 ka congress man ug ang tibuok angkan sa mga Garcia.

this is not about Tomas and the Garcias, this is about questioning the SRP which will be generally disadvantageous to the Cebuanos, fueled by politics and greed.

questioning the SRP-FLI deal is only the first, joining in is second and railroading it to become theirs is the ultimate goal. mark my words!

ang mobabag sa anything good for Cebu is anti-Cebu, op kors. But to question the contract is another thing. Dili mana nato matawag ug "gibabagan". The contract was already finished and signed and ready for implementation naman na.

if we follow ur logic, nya how about the conflict between Talisay and Cebu City regarding some SRP lots? is it anti-Cebu? i don't think so.

in the case of Ciudad project being blocked, unsa may klaro gyud kno nga rason beh? mao nay mas angay tawgon ug anti-Cebu...

kanang complaint sa Cebu Province regarding the deal between SRP and FLI is already been expected long ago. It is not a surprise anymore mga undo, given the rift between the Igat and the General.

look at what happened to the CICC. . . overpriced. . . and a financial disaster. . . it was supposed to be a multipurpose recreation center such that it would make money. . . a sports center like abellana. . . etc.
architect medalle won the project fair and square but for some reason it was made into what is now the worthless CICC. worthless because Cebu does not need another convention center.

There are a lot of reasons you can think of nganong GARCIA gyud ang ni question sa SRP deal. This is Tomas pet project and the fact nga they are trading insults vice versa is very obvious nga REVENGE is one of the reasons. Pagahi-ay lang gud kung kinsa gyud ang madutlan. You can say it's a political ranting kay nganong adto man pagarpar si PJ sa congress. Kung naa gyud silay basis ug agrabyado sila ngano di man sila mo diretso in court aron adto daugon. Puro bitaw na sila kiha ma bikini open or libel or whatever. Gi challenge na sila ni Tommy nga ipa adto sa court, unsa may ilang gidugayan? They (GARCIAS) should concentrate on their positions, not by their personal desire. The province need good leaders. Their inquiry on this is very time consuming, the City should recover on the loans immediately to proceed to another project.

the reason why Cebuanos do not believe PJ even with all his proof and evidence is because wala siya'y moral authority to question the SRP-FLI deal even with all his textbook legalities.

bisan unsa nimo ka bright and tarong (kuno) pero wala gani salig nimo ang katawhan, politically and morally, wa gihapon ka. that is the situation PJ and the Garcias are in right now that some people cannot get or simply refuse to understand.
