no it's not OT we are arguing about the validity of God's commandments in relation to His existence.
the situation you gave is under the commandment that states, thou shall not kill. and when you lie(on that situation) you did not break the thou shall not lie commandment because you are obliged to a heavier commandment.
if the whole commandment is flawed nabuslot na unta ang iyang system as a whole, but see naay napadulngan ang imung lie which is a reponsiblity of a higher grounds, and the situation is applicable, in parallel, to many other situations.
I think the 10 commandments were not really the 10 commandments at all. They are just reminders because humans know already that long before moses was born. Humans have this tendency of being forgetful about their spiritual nature. If you really KNOW WHO YOU REALLY ARE, do you really need the 10 commandments? they are just like abc but when you really know that you are an adult already and have mastered the abc, do you still need the abc? It is just all automatic.![]()
Another example. this time, Thou shall not kill.
You are the train operator of a train full of people, then up ahead, you see that the rail bridge is down. The brakes are out. the only way to avoid disaster is to divert the train. But the diversion tunnel has workers in it who will surely die if the train goes that way...
what to do?
this caught me off-handed lol, honestly i will commit mistake if i answer this. so i'd better not, cause i know you will cook me with what i will give you. you are starting to sound like the pharisees. using this questions just to seek flaw in my God.
but for you i will give my "personal" idea, this is not how it should be done. if i am the train operator. id jump and save myself let the accident have it's casualties i will save who i can save and that is me. in the first place it was not my fault that the bridge is down and the brakes are out and the tunnel is occupied. im not even sure that if i divert we will still be alive.
i have stated a disclaimer on the first paragraph. im sure you have a word for this, but let me repeat this is a POV and this is not the right decision, i just don't have the wisdom to know but i have my common sense to think.
Even god contradicts himself in the old testament. He says do not kill. But then he ordered the murder of entire cities also.
I won't judge your answer. Its a question on morals and quite difficult to answer. That is understandable.
The overall point I'm making is that, nothing is absolute.
uh-oh, cognitive dissonance triggering....
nothing is absolute, yet its coming from a literature that claims absolutes.
if i remember the story correctly, ka-kasulat pa lang ng 10 commandments then there goes moses and company raping and pillaging, not even sparing the livestock.
