Here's a nice one... the Berkut...

it's a canard push-prop highly aerobatic kit plane based on the LongEZE
    design of Burt Rutun

here's a 1995 dated article on the designs development...

    Berkut Pilot Report

my former boss had one. he use to brag that this could out-maneuver
an f-16 at low altitudes. I'm not sure how much truth is in that though.

he also mentioned that a test pilot died because the plane could go
through more g-force than the human body could stand. the pilot
blacked out after going through 9g's.

anyway, here's a vid of a berkut in action...

YouTube - Berkut: A bird with an Attitude

my former boss had weapon points installed and mentioned about a
demonstration for the military. that was also about the time I left the
company so I have no idea if that demo ever pushed through.

in terms of price someone was selling one at $40,000US... that's
nearly 2 million pesos. but bear in mind that these things are home
built and plans can be purchased from $500~$600.

with a little pinoy ingenuity and engineering I think we can have
    these things rolling out locally.

another website regarding the berkut especially with details on the
building process and more videos in flight...

    My BERKUT Project

I wonder if my boss's berkut is still here in Cebu?

UPDATE: turns out the US military is already a step ahead in using
the berkut for military use... as an unmanned drone

Mobius makes first attempt to take-off, land by itself - works!

"Mobius evolved from the manned aircraft, the Berkut, and can
now carry 1,000 pounds of internally and externally stored payload."

"During the demonstration flights, Mobius worked at speeds of more
than 250 mph, making it one of the fastest unmanned aircraft in its class.
Additionally, the Mobius can stay airborne for more than 20 hours,
the equivalent of flying non-stop from Santa Monica, Calif. to London, England."

Remember, this was developed from a home-built kit plane.
Where are the RC hobbyists in this forum?

Hey rodsky!!! Guess we better start sharpening are armchair piloting skills!!!
