I think the word is ignorant by nature ang tagalog to what is around the country side. It is a cultural thing siguro and the competetive nature people coming from the "city" need to project.

Living example man ko ani kay tagalog man ko nga na citizen diri Cebu. I love Cebu and its my home na.
Karon there are times I share the sentiments nga mora ug hambugiro ang bag-ong and usa ka tagalog or even and usa ka bisaya nga gikan sa ncr/luzon. After a while, mo sabot man sila kay they will learn to understand and appreciate the what we have here. In general, halos tanan naa sa manila naa cebu but dili tanan naa cebu naa sila didto sa manila.

Many tagalog don't even know that many business tycoons came from Cebu. Some first timers here in Cebu are even surprise of what we have diri, dili sila ka tuo ba.

The "promdi" era of Lito O has changed the way the nation look at the Cebuanos [bisaya as commonly known]. In the eyes of the ordinary person from NCR/Luzon, everyone who comes from the south is a bisaya [sounds funny but tinuod gayud]. For them Cebuano, Waray, Illonggo, Surigao, Davao, CDO and all places here are bisaya. That is why I call it ignorance instead of hambugiro....

not all. my crowd sa office and close friends are Manilenio. my boyfriend is Manilenio. he's not arrogant nor hambog bisan Atenista pa cya. he's not even judgmental. cguro, kanang mga alanganin ang mga hambog.

but yeah, if outside Manila naka nagpuyo, they will call you probincyano or probincyana.
