    Yesterday, when I inquired at a local airguns shop here in Iloilo City, I was given the following quotation:

    * Armscor standard model: P6,700
    * Valiente C02 tank: P1,150
    *3-9 x 40 Bushnell scope: P3,500
    *Silencer: P3,500
    *Power Up Charges: P 550
    ----------
    P15,400

    What do you think about the whole deal? Not bad or holdap?

    I have plans to embark on this great hobby, and I'm currently doing research on entry-level AG rifles that won't hurt much on the pocket/wallet.

    So please help me out with these super-newbie questions:

    1. Which would you recommend: a .177 caliber or a .22 caliber? Why? What are the pros and cons of each?

    2. What is the best and most accurate kind of AG for an entry-level enthusiast: (a) spring, (b) CO2, or (c) PCP? Why? Which models of AGs would you recommend that fall under the type you chose?

    3. Do you have any personal experience with these AGs: (a) CZ Slavia 625, (b) Crossman 2100B, and (c) Armscor standard? In terms of accuracy, durability, sturdiness, availability of parts and accessories, "customization-friendliness," and price, which among the three do you think is best? What are the pros and cons of each?

    I know I've asked a lot, and those would take some time to answer, but I hope you won't mind helping another potential convert to this amazing sport.

    Salamat gid nga madamo! (I'm Ilonggo, by the way.)

    I think most of the questions were already answered by Scope. Let me just add: .177 flatter trajectory as what S_C said pellet travels with lesser curve compared to .22. Also if used for hunting shot placement is critical for .177 while .22 have more knocking power. Most hunters go for the bigger caliber but i've also known hunters who uses .177.

    Most use springers for plinking, paper punching and target shooting. My 2 cents, springers not very good for hunting. It's rest sensitive, meaning when you aim at targets and you need to place your gun on a rest (ex. branch, tree trunks... we call it bad-ay), springers are not very friendly because of its hard recoil. Good if you're used to with offhand shooting after going through long walks and still catching your breath while aiming for your target... Also, when hunting you need very minimal movements, when cocking springers you move a lot in charging and placing the pellet unlike with CO2s and PCPs. Springers 1 cock, 1 shot.

    Go for armscor instead of escopeta CO2 rifles. Better yet go to local gunsmiths but im sure waiting time is long.

    One thing, crosman nowadays uses more plastics in their guns unlike those days that they were built to last. One example is the crosman pellgun 160 as posted by one of our friends here.

    I think I saw an armscor executive with that same price. For tanks go for master alloy or valiente. Mura mahal ra ang imong silencer bai. Unsay Power up charges? You mean modifications sa gun?

    By "power up," the counter girl meant increasing the fps.

    According to her, "factory settings" fps of Armscor AGs is usually around 400-600 fps, but by powering it up, they can increase it to 800 fps or so.

    I've read a lot of great reviews about Filarms' AGs, and I'm almost tempted to get one myself.

    However, I believe I'm more of an old-fashioned guy who likes old-fashioned designs--especially those that look a bit similar to M1 Garand or, better, to Winchester.

    That's why medyo crush ko ang CZ Slavia 625, although friends here who are into airgunning for quite a long time discourage me to get it kay indi kuno okay. Do you agree with this?

    We have chronied several stock armscor rilfe, velocity is 600-660fps. 800!!! Wow! I have yet to see a CO2 rifle going on 800. Stock PCP only goes 750-850fps (not modified). I'm sure the girl you were referring to knows that someone from bacolod who we called 'the master', modified several CO2 rifles but he never reached 800fps, I think only 700-750. Very nice bro if they can make it to 800, go for it parang pcp na yan.

    Right now im testing my Joe Tugaons using a chrony, it never reached 700fps, mga 630-660 lang, but this is a compe gun. You can shoot one holer all day.

    Someone from Eskopeta/Estrella said in a text message that they use more brass parts--especially the barrel (even among their "basic" or low-end models)--compared to Armscor.

    I haven't seen any Eskopeta/Estrella unit yet as no local store here carries/sells them, so I can't tell. But for the gurus and maestros here, what is your take on this, mga Sir?

    So getting a Crosman isn't a wise choice, too, especially for a long-term investment?

    If I may, ano ang usual price range sang Crosman AGs?

    I still have to visit this Nelson gun shop here after the Holy Week to see what he's selling.
