POP3 access in Yahoo! Mail is only available to Yahoo! Plus users. Free accounts do not have access to Yahoo! Mail thru POP.

correct. But there is a third party app who will act as a gateway (pop3 to web base). You can try YPOP!. You can retrieve your yahoo mail from OE or Microsoft Outlook.....

bai, you can ask your mail provider for the config details of your mail account (ie... IP for incoming and outgoing mails, smtp authentication atc...)

that can be done...my email accounts from both my pldt dsl and globe dsll lines can be accessed through OE or Thunderbird. check the dsl provider webpage bec. they have a section on how to do it. i was also able to do that when i was still using Outlook

As MandYX said YPOP or other similar proggies is the only way that you'll access yahoo for free...

pre-gmail has instructions on how to access using OE; yahoo wala bec. they stopped that a few years ago (i also lost my yahoo access back then). as the others said, you'll have to use YPOP or something similar for that. if ur using firefox, there's an extension which notifies you of new email in your gmail accounts...
