you can still have the best of both worlds... (being an employee and being an investor)
"the problem is where do i start?" - i hate to say this (and you might fry me for saying it) BUT you really have to know your passion and focus your energy on "that" passion (i mean after your work pwede nimo lihokon imong "extra" sideline. naa ra na sa time management. i must admit medyo lisod sa sugod juggling your time for work, family and business. theres no other way. no shortcuts.)
"i'm not much of a risk taker" - business is really for the bold ones. no matter how big or small the business is there's always an element of "risk".... theres no business nga walay kuyog nga "problema"...
"can i be a dormant investor and yet still be successful?" - yes you can. let me refresh my memory, are you the one who's earning 15% interest sa imong company coop? that's passive investment. re-invest your interest to that coop. Another way is becoming a "shareholder" sa usa ka profitable company like San Miguel Corp. or Ayala perhaps but you'll gonna need a staggering capital for that... it requires millions (thats why there's mutual fund for those who have very little bank accounts.)
on my end... i highly encourage people to take a risk.... (a calculable risk)... you can always start small... but THINK BIG...
