You have to understand that TRANSFORMATION is REAL CHANGE of your WEAKNESSES into STRENGTHS - From NEGATIVE into POSITIVE! It could also mean changing your weak body into a strong one like the body of an ATHLETE or a WARRIOR!

BTW if you want to know how we change physically, study BIOLOGY and if you want to know whether we evolve into GALACTIC HUMANS thousands or millions of years from now, juts read and study your bible! It's there! It's called MERKABAH!

Psychologist Carl Jung wrote that the proper psychology for twentieth century men and women is medieval. Why? Because we of the twentieth century, who have unleashed the cosmic powers of the atom but lack a cosmic moral sense and a cosmic psychic understanding, need desperately a psychology of microcosm/macrocosm. The twentieth century writer G.K. Chesterton once predicted that Thomas Aquinas may be remembered as the person who gave the twentieth century back a cosmos. While I respect Aquinas' cosmic vision, I believe it is Hildegard of Bingen rather than Aquinas who will accomplish this essential task for us. For Hildegard is more steeped in women's wisdom than Aquinas. She gives us not just concepts but ways of healing psyche and cosmos. Art is the way; her mandalas as pictured in this book are ways; her drama, music, poetry, and her implicit invitation to make art our way of passing on a cosmic vision are all ways.

Not really. Well, if you try to define Psychology it comes from the Greek word, Psyche which means mind or soul. So, it is understandable that one cannot ignore THE VARIETES OF RELIGIOUS EXPERIENCE as explained by William James, the father of American Psychology in the same title of his CLASSIC BOOK!

if you want to make psychology a science, one must drop all this pseudo-talk and go to a more strict empirical methodology.

im not talking about spiritual classic im talking about psychology as a science. there are different school of thoughts indeed, from wundt to lacan to sternberg. (i doubt many people in psychology appreciates and/or understands lacan) but my point being that psychology, if it clamors to be science, 'psychologists' must drop anything that is beyond the reaches of scientific discourse. if not, then we stick to this 'anything goes' discipline in psychology which beyond words is just pathetic. no offense.

FYI, the child the fourth school of thought is TRANSPERSONAL PSYCHOLOGY after Humanistic Psychology that was pioneered by Abraham Maslow and it has a lot of scientific research when it comes to spiritual topics such as consciousness and mysticism. I don't think so Psychology will not become a science because of these subjects.

Transpersonal psychology is a school of psychology that studies the transpersonal, self-transcendent or spiritual aspects of the human experience. A short definition from the Journal of Transpersonal Psychology suggests that transpersonal psychology "is concerned with the study of humanity’s highest potential, and with the recognition, understanding, and realization of unitive, spiritual, and transcendent states of consciousness" (Lajoie and Shapiro, 1992:91). Issues considered in transpersonal psychology include spiritual self-development, peak experiences, mystical experiences, systemic trance and other metaphysical experiences of living.

Transpersonal psychologists see the school as a companion to other schools of psychology that include psychoanalysis, behaviorism, and humanistic psychology. Transpersonal psychology attempts to unify modern psychology theory with frameworks from different forms of mysticism. These vary greatly depending on the origin but include religious conversion, altered states of consciousness, trance and other spiritual practices. Although Carl Jung and others have explored aspects of the spiritual and transpersonal in their work, Miller (1998: 541-542) notes that Western psychology has had a tendency to ignore the spiritual dimension of the human psyche.
