for me, the Bible is a very wonderful book. but it is just it is. just a book. no trumpets sounding from heaven when you open it. no white dove who speaks to you as to how to interpret it. as to why some people have fanatical tendencies who have taken it as their career to idolize it, totally escapes me. but hey, that's just me. and i'm not like you. so i'll just take a pass once again.
the Bible is NOT the Word of God. it's just a book. a book of compiled books with different timelines so you could not expect it to flawlessly interweave. there's bound to be friction caused by the inconsistencies and contradictions in it. the early popes, cardinals, bishops, monks, priests, scribes did a sloppy job of editing it. and now here comes the bible people doing an honest to goodness interpretation of that sloppy job of those sloppy people of early ages. it produced a cascaded chain reaction down the ages. you do the math.
if God could speak right now, He'd say: "You got Me all wrong."
history books are my bible. not some fancy Word of God wannabe.
