    Default Need Help. N6600.

    My 6600 has been upgraded to v5.53.0 kay mo hang when i try to open and close and open and close ug applications. It all seems to work fine now pero when my phone goes on idle mode for say, 1 hour or more, makit-an nako sa ako Outbox nga naa message sending failed. The numbers with which the MMS are sent to are not in my phonebook. I think the reason nga sending failed siya is because i dont have the mms activated. Is this a virus? if it is, unsaon pagtangtang? thanks!

    if your mms is not activated then you really can't send mms.

    If your phone is trying to send a file with a .sis extension then it's definitely a virus.
    Usually blutooth or mms na ang pag spread sa virus.
    Naka reciv ko kas-a ug mms file with .sis extension, maau lang nga wala nako gi open then gi verify nako with the sender. Turned out to be a virus. If the virus can't find a blutooth connection it is sent via mms. The mms is usually sent between midnight and 6:00 am.

    @jasonchase,

    Virus na bai most commonly known as "Caribe". This only affects symbian phones like most of Nokia. The phone tries to send a ".sis" file as mentioned by TinkeR to all numbers in your phone book thru MMS. It will also try to find bluetooth clients to send the file to. A ".sis" is actually an installer in the Symbian platform just as ".exe" are for Windows computers. Having received the file doesn't really mean you're already infected. That is if it stays in your inbox unread. Once you open the file, it executes installation and installs the virus on your phone. That's how your phone gets the virus. Eventually, the infected starts doing the same and that is how it spreads. Sony Ericsson, Motorola, and Samsung are not affected by this even if they receive and open the file. Anyway, there's no ways that they can open it since their platforms don't support the file extension ".sis". This also another way of spreading the virus. Some people (na walang magawa sa buhay) keeps the file in a non-symbian unit and sends it you to passers-by who happens to have turned on their bluetooh. Note that some models from Sony Ericsson, Samsung, Motorola, and etc have Symbian OS (i.e., SE P900, Samsung i300, and a few from Motorola).

    You'll need to get that off your phone ASAP. Bring your phone to any service center or cell shop. I believe they have fixes for it. Good thing GPRS and MMS setting has not been set on your phone. Cause if it were... ubos ang load mo! =)

    Goodluck!

    You don't have to pay to have your phone reformatted. Just note that reformatting your phone will remove all its contents installed thereafter from purchase. I believe you have to type in a few codes to reformat the your phone. Read the forum about Symbian Phones.
