this is Caray-a...dialect of the province.

They say that Caray-a is the original hiligaynon---the native tongue of the Ilonggos. The one, now referred as Hiligaynon (spoken in the city and nearby towns as well as in Bacolod City) is bastardized Caray-a invented by Chinese elitist... actually i only heard this from someone. I think it does make some sense.[br]Posted on: November 04, 2003, 08:30:42 PM_________________________________________________b y the way, you can also say

mayad nga aga, mayad nga gab-i...instead of mayong aga or maayong gab-i.

    Mayad therefore is maayo.

    in context,

pamangkot (question): kumusta ka? (how are you?)
    sabat ( answer) : Mayad man! ( ' fine)

Som esay that ilonggos's are "tikalon". It's is not a compliment so don't say it right on their faces.
    It means they are hambog...

wow! damo gali mga ilonggo diri? ilonggo ko utro pero taga cotabato province ko.

in the town i grew up in, the people speak ilonggo there.

ilonggo's migrated there during the 1910's or at least i think during those times.

there's a barrio which is called "new antique."

but the language is softer and it doesn't have an obvious tone and intonation (the boring version).

i also can speak caray-a but not that much.[br]Posted on: November 22, 2003, 09:53:04 PM_________________________________________________m aayo nga gab-i sa inyo nga tanan!
