Nagbanta si WBC President Don Jose Sulaiman sa kampo ni Manny Pacquiao na magsasampa ito ng kaso kapag hindi pa rin binayaran ang $80,000 sanction fees sa rematch nito kay Juan Manuel Marquez at Oscar dela Hoya.

Sa sulat ni Sulaiman kay Atty. Franklin Gacal, Legal Adviser ni Pacquiao, tinatanong nito kung bakit hindi nila sinasagot ang kaniyang mga sulat at tawag at ang hindi pagtupad sa kanilang napagkasunduan na babayaran ni Pacquiao sa kaniyang laban kay Marquez at dela Hoya.

Aniya, dapat bayaran kaagad ni Pacman ang nasabing halaga na inalok nito at tinanggap naman ng WBC.

Dagdag pa ni Sulaiman dahil sa patuloy na pang-iisnab ng kampo ni Pacquiao sa kaniya ay magsasampa na lamang ito ng kaso kontra sa People’s Champ.

“GMA Network did not offer the same to Pacquiao because the Omnibus Election Code prohibits television networks from doing so. Section 95 of the code states that “no contribution for purposes of partisan political activity shall be made directly or indirectly” by grantees of franchises such as television networks,” said the GMA-7 statement.

ABS-CBN: Pacquiao won't violate GMA-7 contract

ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. on Friday warned GMA Network Inc. from making “veiled accusations” over Manny Pacquiao’s decision to leave Solar Entertainment.

“We understand GMA7's disappointment about the decision of Manny Pacquiao to have ABS-CBN as its media partner, but it should avoid making thinly veiled accusations based on a columnist's speculation. It alleges that ABS-CBN's supremacy in reach is to be used for Manny Pacquiao's political plans—which is not true,” ABS-CBN said in a statement.

GMA was referring its claims over the article written by columnist Beth Celis, which was published by Philippine Daily Inquirer on March 18, 2009.

ABS-CBN said the airing of future Pacquiao fights will not violate the boxer’s contract with GMA, which prohibits Pacquiao from appearing on "any television program, show, promotion or event of any other broadcast media entity."

“Manny's fights are not programs, shows, promotion, or events of ABS-CBN. As the media partner of Manny Pacquiao, the Kapamilya network will only be airing Pacquiao's boxing matches that will be produced by Top Rank,” said ABS-CBN.

ABS-CBN added that Solar has no legal basis to take legal action since the network did not violate Solar’s rights. The network also made it clear that Pacquiao voluntarily made the network transfer.

“Pacquiao rescinded his contract with Solar before he approached ABS-CBN to be his media partner. We merely welcomed him as a Kapamilya,” ABS-CBN said.

Pacquiao renewed his ties with ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. last Wednesday and said the network will air his matches including his highly-anticipated fight with British superstar Ricky Hatton on May 2.

Pacquiao said he rescinded his contract with Solar because of the latter’s reported delays in fulfilling its financial obligations.

“The partial payment belatedly made yesterday (March 16) is proof of undue delay by Solar in the performance of its obligations,” the boxer said in his letter addressed to Solar.

This marked the end of Pacquiao's contract with Solar Entertainment Corp., which has blocktime agreements with GMA for the airing of Pacquiao's fights in the country.
