hi..i was the barops chair last year in our skul.. and here are some of the reasons why dili as organized ang ato-a barops here:

first reason is financial constraints. MOst law schools here in Cebu have few students (except guro USC). So the admin would provide little amount of financial aid, and with the increasing operational costs, the barops would have to raise funds by solicitation. 4 years ago, sayon ra mobuhi ug 1000 for barops.. karon bisan 100 sakit na sa bulsa.

second is "home-court" advantage. Law schools in manila have the advantage of getting the best bar site since they are there all year round. They could secure the permits first or get to negotiate the place where their barristers will have their lunch. barops members, schoolmates, supporters and mentors are already in manila, they dont have to spend for their travel and hotel accommodations.

third, less volunteers. Since cost of flying to manila and for the accommodation is high, we need volunteers who are willing to shoulder part of the expenses. Sa una daghan kaayo mo volunteer, karon, swerte na if naa 3 tungod sa crisis.

Fourth, some law schools are not heavily supported by their alumni. Naa uban alumni na wala ra.. motago na if maabot ang barops k for sure tolicit na pod.. heheheh

Lastly, we don't have enough man power to do research and digest cases or even compile decided cases (except for some schools guro, but most schools, lisud jd)

well, i hope in time our barops from cebu will evolve and improve. last year, we were able to tie up with ALSP and they were able to provide us some services during the bar month and provided us with tarps and shirts. hopefully this year better na pd ato barops..
