@lokster, the catalyst im using is the one from the site. and yes i enabled vpu, cause as ive said it keeps on getting vpu errors and without vpu errors it would resort to a lethal bluescreen.

Ka2 nag ATI pako before, i kept getting VPU errors even on windows desktop doing nothing, unselecting the report error solved the problem altho i never had a BSOD.

Several of my friends are also getting BSOD's on their 4870X2's and 4870 1GB/512MB, only goes to show how mature their drivers are.

enermax, is that generic? if youve spent for such a card might as well spend for a reliable PSU

Red team is alright, but if your unfortunate enough to get a badly made card it would be a hassel. ive been red team for a while and im just unlucky to get bad cards.

WOW ka sayang gud ila mga video cards, i mean really wasted money!!
you'd think they would do something about it, VPU errors could be related to old drivers, try my suggestion earlier and tell them that if it doesnt work, maybe Fresh clean start is in order, if that still doesnt work then the problem would be the card as VPU errors are software or driver related.

Your dead on, ATI cards are a total waste of money as of now since you have to gamble if it works or not.

Actually older drivers fixed the VPU errors and other inconsistent performance they had, i managed to fix it for them.

ATI's driver problem is so random, their cards work perfectly fine on my system though.

they work fine on my system and my best friends system, and 2 other systems,

3870s
3850s
2600xts
and x300se

havent had a vpu error on them but 2 4670s died! reference cards and bad cooling i guess.

all of the cards i mentioned are either on 9.2 catalyst or 8.11 catalyst, and no problem so far. ive just updated them from 8.7 and 8.9 soo everything is working alright, its actually been at least 6 months already.

Whatever works for you may not perfectly work for the next person, the same can be said for nvidia hardware, the older cards work perfectly though note that i stated 4870 series.

i guess, but handsoff has a 4650 which isnt as high end as the ones youve mentioned, lol, at least you fixed it for them.

Yeah, who'ed though using older drivers actually provided the fix for ALL of their problems, but i find it ironic for them to ask me what card to get and they get the total opposite of what i say.

when i installed the vcard, i decided nga mag-fresh intall gyud ko ug OS, cause that 4650 is inilis na pud na nako gikan atong 2650XT nga akong gipalit nga cge ug crash, mao gihapon tong 2650Xt always VPU error and crashes on 4th-6th VPU error. so when i got the 4650 as an exchange nag fresh install ko sa OS, limpyu tanan... mao ra man gyud gihapon.
but one thing i noticed, during the initial installation i run my puter with the 4650, so it kept on getting errors and it was already running for more than 48hours and already experienced many VPU errors, when i disables the vpu-feature on the catalyst, everytime mo hang ang vcard it would resort to a blue screen.

wala na gyud koy laing alternative aning vpu?
it freezes my pc for almost 20 seconds, samok kau magkulba-kulba paka magkalisod kay basin mo restart
