Youtube is a flashplayer of sorts but it does seem to play almost anywhere...For online I hear is .MOV and i think they accept that, but a surer statement of compression for online exhibition is a 256kbps rendering of a Windows Media 9 (WMV) file if you downgrade it to just a hundred, it's gonna be super-pixelated already... so 256 will do.
